كتاب خفيف ولطيف على القلب وكان رفيق ما قبل النوم لأكثر من شهر. لا شيء أجمل من قراءة يوميات آن المفعمة بحب الحياة والمشاعر البريئة وحياتها المليئة بالدفء لتملأ دقائق ما قبل النوم (الراحة النفسية التي تغمرني بها الرواية كانت تضعني في سبات عميق في وقت قصير جدًا XD).

تطور شخصية آن خلال خمس سنوات من طفلة حيوية تعيش في أحلامها إلى فتاة ناضجة واقعية تُؤْثر غيرها على نفسها ومستعدة للتنازل عن كبريائها للاعتراف بخطئها وتغيير أهدافها لأن من نحبهم يستحقون أن نضحي بكل شيء من أجلهم.
آلمتني جدًا وفاة ماثيو الهادئ الحنون، هذا الفقد ترك أثره في نفوس ماريلا وآن ولكنهم تعلموا التعايش معه وأحببت هذه النقطة.
متشوقة لمعرفة ما تؤول إليه علاقة آن وجيلبرت.

الكتاب الثاني من السلسلة سيكمل ما سعى إليه الأول في مساعدتي على الحظي بنوم هانئ وأحلام سعيدة مع آن في رحلتها الجديدة.
*وجب علي التنويه بأن ترجمة النسخة الورقية التي أملكها من دار ملهمون سيئة جدًا لدرجة تغيير المعنى في بعض الفقرات، مما اضطرني لقراءة النسخة الإلكترونية من دار عصير الكتب على تطبيق أبجد وترجمتها أفضل بكثير.

عذوبة السرد، جمال الطرح، وعمق البحث والتبحر في التاريخ أنتج لنا رواية آسرة بجميع تفاصيلها. لا أكاد أصدق أنها ثاني رواية لأسامة الشاذلي. أعجبت كثيرًا بروايته الأولى (أوراق شمعون المصري) ولم أتوقع أن ترتقي الرواية الثانية لنفس مستواها ولكنها فاجأتني! الروايتان مختلفتان ولا تصح المقارنة بينهما ولكن قلم أسامة جعل القصتان بنفس مستوى الجمال الأدبي.
استخدم الكاتب اسلوب اسميه (حرق الأحداث) ولم يعرض القصة بترتيبها الزمني وكانت طريقة استراتيجية في كثير من المواضع. الفصلين الأولى من القصة قرأتها ببرود في المرة الأولى وعند عودتي إليها بعد إنهاء القصة آلمتني. السياق يؤثر كثيرًا في وقع الكلمات على القلب.
يصعب علي وصف حبكة الرواية. هي تاريخية، سياسية، دينية، تتخللها الرومانسية. تتكلم عن ثلاث أجيال وتأثيرها ببعضها في أواخر حكم الدولة الفاطمية.
في البداية استصعبت بعض الكلمات المرتبطة بالديانة المسيحية لكن بعد نحو ٣٥ صفحة اعتدت عليها وأصبحت القراءة سلسة أكثر. 
أحببت الشخصيات وترابطها ببعضها، بعض الفقرات الرومانسية كانت من أجمل ما قرأت، تصوير الكاتب لعبثية السياسة ووهمية العدل. كل شيء نُفذ بشكل بديع وممتع وأنوي إعادة قراءة هذه الرواية مستقبلًا إن شاء الله. 

حرق للأحداث:

طوال قراءتي للرواية كنت أتساءل عن سبب تسميتها بعهد دميانة وعند انتهائي أدركت بأن العهد بدأ قبل ولادتها، من مأساة عائلة جدتها ورد حين باعها أبوها غصبًا وزواجها بالكاتب صدقة المختلف عنها في المذهب وولادة أبيها الذي آمن بالخالق واحتار في سبل القرب إليه. عهد دميانة هو الحرية وأن تختار طريقها بنفسها، فوسْن ستستكمل طريق ورد أما دميانة تسير على طريق أبيها في البحث عن الخلاص لنفسها بنفسها.
جميع الشخصيات الرئيسية وجدت خلاصها بشكل مختلف.
خلاص وسن كان في البتولية التي رفضها والدها حتى لا ينقطع نسله وحاربها ابن عمها لهوسه بها. يبدو شابًا طبيعيًا في كل أمور حياته ولا تشك بامتلاكه نزعة التملك هذه بوسن وتلك الفكرة وحدها ارعبتني. 
خلاص يوستينا كان بأن تُحِب وتحَب. وهذا ما وجدته في يوسف وضحت بكل شيء من أجله.
خلاص يوسف كان في إحداث فرق في هذا العالم وترك أثر في النفوس.
خلاص مينا كان في صدقه مع نفسه وغيره لآخر لحظة من حياته.
أما ورد فوجدت خلاصها في وفائها لعهد أبيها والتزامها بارتداء الصليب لآخر أيامها.
إبراهيم وجد خلاصه في التقائه بعائلته بعد فراق امتد لأغلب سنين عمره.
حتى السجان المجنون وجد نوعًا من الخلاص في تحنيط جثة يوسف لأن وفقًا لاعتقاداته هذه الطريقة الوحيدة لضمان الخلود لروحه التي تستحق ذلك.
دميانة هي نتيجة الحب الخالص، وهي حفيدة ورد التي تفرقت عائلتها. أتت لتؤنس وحدة وسن وتصبح ابنتها التي لم تلدها. ولتحفظ ذكرى يوسف وورد وتفي بالعهد وتبقى حرة.
الشخصيات السياسية أغلبها سيء ما عدا علي بن السلار الذي لا زال يملك رحمة في قلبه. أما عباس الصنهاجي وزوجته وابنهم النصر وست القصور والظافر كلهم متوحشين و دنيئين. الظافر والنصر مقززين ومقرفين ولا أعلم صحة ما رواه عنهما الكاتب.
تمنيت لو عاش يوسف وبقيت منكرة لموته حتى جنازته. وأعتقد أن وفاته هي سبب التزام وسن بالبتولية في نهاية المطاف.

رواية جمييييلة جدا وأنتظر باقي مؤلفات أسامة الشاذلي بفارغ الصبر.

كتاب في قمة اللطافة وخفيف على القلب والروح 🤍
بعد عدة قراءات يطغى عليها الحزن ومليئة بتعقيدات النفس البشرية، سعدت لقراءة هذا الكتاب.
استخدمت الكاتبة الخيال المطلق لتفسير الظاهرة العجيبة التي تحدث أحيانًا عندما ننام وهي الأحلام ✨️ هذا النوع من الخيال قريب جدًا لقلبي من سن صغير، كانت تجذبني القصص التي تفسر بشكل عجيب سبب افتقار الثعبان للأيادي والأرجل، أو سبب طول خرطوم الفيل (هذه القصص حفزت الابتكار عندي في سني الصغير وأصبحت أكتب قصصي الخاصة التي تفسر الظواهر الطبيعية بشكل طريف 🤣).
ولأول مرة منذ مدة طويلة أصادف هذا النوع من صناعة القصة في كتاب.
استمتعت كثيرًا بخيال الكاتبة وبالشخصيات المميزة وبفوائد الأحلام غير المتوقعة.
لماذا بعض الأحلام جودتها أفضل من غيرها؟ ولم أحيانًا لا نحلم بالمرة! هل الكوابيس سيئة أم جيدة؟ كل هذه التساؤلات تجيب عنها الكاتبة بطريقتها.
تمنيت للحظة الانتقال لعالم الأحلام وشراء بعض زجاجات المشاعر 🤣
قد لا تكون الرواية هي الأفضل أدبيًا، ولكن من الجانب النفسي والشخصي ناسبتني جدًا.

في العادة لا تستهويني الروايات الرومنسية ولكن هذه بالذات أعجبتني. لدي تحفظاتي بخصوص بعض ما يتخلل العلاقات التي في الرواية ولكن لأول مرة يؤثر فيني وصف الحب. النظرة الأولى، اللهفة، الرغبة في معرفة كل ما يخص الطرف الآخر. شعرت بإحساس رويا في بداية الإعجاب وفي الحب وفي الانتظار وفي الخيبة.
زاري تمثّل صوتي الداخلي. الصوت العقلاني المائل للسلبية. أعجبتني شخصيتها بالرغم من تحطيمها واستفزازها في بغض اللحظات.

في شبابها تقع في حب بهمان وفي عشريناتها تحب والتر. لا يتشابهان بيد أن كل واحد فيهما يمثل الرجل المثالي بالنسبة لي بغض النظر عن رويا (قد أكون اندمجت أكثر من اللازم؟). بهمان التقت به في المكتبة (هل هناك مكان أجمل؟) وبعد أن لفتها منظره انجذبت لذكائه وعمقه ورغبته في المساهمة في شيء أكبر منه، فهو الفتى الذي أراد تغيير العالم. بهمان يحيطه حس بالمغامرة. أما والتر، فهالته توحي بالطمأنينة والراحة والتقبل. مهما كان العالم صاخبًا هدوؤه ورصانته تبطئ من سرعة العالم. يدللك ويعاملك كالزجاج الهش. لم تدخل الكاتبة كثيرًا فيما يحب ويكره وطموحاته وأهدافه، ولكن احتواؤه لرويا كان يكفي. 
الكاتبة ماهرة في إيصال المشاعر، آلمتني خسارة رويا لماريغولد ذات السنة الواحدة. وأتمنى ألا يشعر أي شخص بمرارة فقدان الضنى. حتى بعد مرور أكثر من ثلاثين سنة لا زالت تتذكرها، أو بالأصح لم تنساها.
صمود والتر ودعمه لرويا خلاص فترة اكتئابها أبهرتني. الاثنان فقدا ماريغولد لكن الصدمة كانت أقوى على رويا ووالتر ساندها رغم كل شيء.
السياسة موجودة في الكتاب ولكنها ليست المحور الرئيسي. تعجبت من أن البدع في الدين تطبق أكثر من التعاليم الإسلامية الصحيحة. الدين يستخدم كشماعة لفرض السلطة ولم أرى أي عرض صحيح له خلال الرواية. لا صلاة ولا صيام والحجاب الشرعي يعتبر من سبل كتم المرأة وسلب حقوقها. الشاه ليس له الحق في منع الحجاب! ولا في فرضه عليهم. من هو حتى يتحكم بتعاليم الدين التي لا يغيرها شيء؟!
فضّلت أن أقرأ الرواية باعتبار أنهم غير مسلمين لأنه لا يوجد ما يدل على ذلك أصلًا.
بشكل عام أعجبتني الرواية واندمجت فيها ويحسب لها أنها أول رومانسية تعجبني في الكتب (لنتجاهل قصة علي).

الكتاب ذكرني بأهمية التفكر في الدين وتدبر آيات القرآن لتجديد الإيمان. التعود يمنعنا أحيانًا من استشعار عظمة الدين. كما وضح بأن التساؤل في أمور الدين ليس خطأ بل هو طبع في الإنسان، والخطأ يكمن في عدم الإجابة على التساؤلات وتركها معلقة بدون إجابة مما يفتح مجالًا للشك.
 ومن أولى طرق إجابة التساؤلات هي التفكير ومن ثم البحث والقراءة لإيجاد الإجابة.
 البعض يفضل تجاهل هذه الأسئلة لأنها تزيد من الشك! وكأنه من الطبيعي للإنسان التوجه للإلحاد عند البحث في المسائل الوجودية، بالرغم من أن فطرة الإنسان تحثه على الإيمان بوجود الخالق لأنه لا توجد أي إجابة منطقية ومرضية أخرى.
 وبعد التيقن من وجود الله والقوى العظمى التي بيدها كل شيء يبدأ سؤال آخر. أي دين هو الصحيح؟ عندها يختصر الكاتب أهم الاعتقادات للأديان المنتشرة، وقد أشبع فضولي تجاهها وزادني يقينًا بأن الاسلام هو الدين السوي.
 الكتاب ممتع ومليء بالمعلومات المدهشة. لقد أعجبتني طريقة سلطان الموسى في التحليل والتفسير ولو أني لا أتفق مع جميع ما يقول. بالمجمل كتاب جميل وكاتب طموح وذكي ونتطلع لقراءة باقي كتبه.

 It started on a good note, and I was intrigued. Robin's upbringing brought me to tears. The middle was boring. Then the pace picks up near the end.
 The writing is beautiful, but it has some serious downfalls that prevented me from fully engaging in the story, as I became extremely impatient toward the middle (the pace does pick up after that, only to become slow again). The pacing is confusing; suddenly, a whole term is reduced to a paragraph, but a single lecture takes pages. This is a side note, but the book is large; it is 500 pages but feels like 1300. The dialogue was great, but if we got more of it instead of just the narrator recalling what happened from memory, it didn't feel like I was in the moment. 

I liked how the book focused on languages and how much meaning was embedded in words and could never truly be fully translated. It showed how lacking the English language is compared to other languages like Chinese and Arabic. I found it infuriating when reading Arabic books translated from English that they were reduced to simple terms that reflected the English ones, when our rich vocabulary wasn't efficiently utilized. On the other hand, if the translator is well-versed, the translated books end up being better and more well-received than the original. This is the case with Khaled Hosseini's novels. The original is good, but compared to the exquisitely translated Arabic version, it's simply bland. I loved how the author used silversmithing to emphasize what's lost in translation. Language is different in other ways too. It affects the way we think; if we don't have a term for a concept, we usually can't think about it. And many terms exist in one language and not in another, at least not as refined. 

Colonization distorts languages. It infiltrates and reduces its unique factors. But since language is deeply rooted in culture, that changes as well. The colonized people lose their language and identity, slowly merging with the colonizer, but they never truly fit in. Thus, they are never reciprocated. I liked how the author initially approached this subject, but due to my lack of knowledge regarding the Opium War, I simply lost interest and had to push through by listening to an audiobook. To be honest, I didn't know that the author was referencing real events until now, so I will educate myself about that.
 

Robin's character development was heartbreaking. He had lost so much, which is one reason why he accepted death. I didn't cry reading his final moments, but I'm feeling emotional now, remembering how vastly his life changed when he was eleven. How he waited for death next to his mother's corpse. Never again did he feel reciprocated affection, not until he met Ramy, his first friend, along with his other cohort. Only then did he feel happiness. It's just so sad that he didn't get the chance to grieve Ramy and Griffen. All of this explains his martyrdom but doesn't explain why Professor Craft and the other two students would choose death as well. What is their motivation? It's not even a war against their land, so why would they give up so much for it? 

Ramiz Rafi Mirza—the funny, smart, and intriguing Ramy. I want to thank R.F. Kuang for including a Muslim character who is ordinary, prays, doesn't drink, and says dua. But why did you have to break my heart and kill him!!! I can only imagine how his family would receive the news. What about his remains? Would they give him a proper burial? He was the only son and the pride of his family, the little professor. I can't get over his death. 

I never really liked Letty, but it's sad how much tunnel vision she has. She can't comprehend what her friends go through or how they feel.
 Victoire wasn't special by any means. I didn't feel anything for her until her epilogue, which made up the last pages of the book.

I should have been emotional reading the ending, but I wasn't. I don't know why. Perhaps it was because of how long-winded this book felt or because of the excessive "tell, don't show" approach the author used. I'm still not sure. I feel sad recalling the events that transpired. Yet, for some reason, I wasn't engaged while reading it.
 Overall, the effort put into this book is evident. There were a few areas where it fell through for me, and I felt a bit bored, which is why I would give it 3.75 stars.

How did I get so immersed in a story less than 50 pages long?
I don't know how the author did it, but it's like magic.
I'm still hurting and not quite ready to write this review.

My heart aches for Gwynne. I love his sweet, caring, peaceful soul. 😭
The fact that she sought glory and to be remembered by many when the one who truly mattered was right next to her the whole time. He is the one who calls her by her name, not even the readers know it.
Some people are evil enough to exploit others for their selfish needs.

I love how beautiful the language is. It paints the scene so effortlessly and majestically.
I need to read more of Alex E. Harrow's work.

The synopsis of this book is very intriguing. 
A girl finds herself bruised and stranded in the middle of nowhere. An officer finds her and brings her to the station. Later on, a man comes to the station claiming to be her father. But the thing is, the girl lost her memory and doesn't even remember her own name! She's relying on this "father" as her source of information for basically everything.
I'm not sure if this is because I'm growing out of the YA phase but I don't like reading about teenagers. The Drew chapters felt too long. I want to know what's going on with the girl. All in all its a good book to read if you want a thriller it was very nicely done. The girl's unexplained fear and dread was well executed and I felt it! I was scared and thanked God a hundred times I wasn't her! 

It felt realistic how others in the community reacted to gossip and rumors. It doesn't take much for people to hate someone without real evidence and it's frustrating!! 
Speaking of frustration, when officer Bowman insisted that Mary isn’t in fact Lola I was soooooo angry!!!!! Like come on how is this a coincidence!!! Only to find out later that he was right, it wasn't her. Lola is in fact dead... that kind of broke me. I was so sure. So hopeful. I should've expected it but I didn't. And neither did Drew. Sometimes I think that's why he risked his life to save Madison. His shock and guilt made it sensible pay for his mistake with his own life. It would make him and Lola even in some twisted way. 
It's hard to move on. Even harder when your hope is shattered for the second time. I can't even imagine how her parents felt. Finally accepting she's not coming back and then someone tells them she's been spotted alive! Only then to discover that it wasn't her, their real daughter was kidnapped and killed weeks ago. I pray that no parent ever experiences that. 
When grieving someone you could get so stuck up at the what-if's? It could drive you insane!! I'm so thankful to be a Muslim and believe in fate. That no matter what, nothing could stop what's bound to happen. When it's your time, you could die by the prick of a needle. It's never easy to grieve but this belief could make it a bit easier to accept and move on.
There was one thing I didn't like about this novel, even thought it's insignificant and doesn't affect the story in anyway, was the gay parents of Drew. It was uncomfortable to read about them. The author obviously supports this group and there's even an appearance of a lesbian couple (they pass a house where there are two old women in the yard of a house with a rainbow colored mailbox). It's only for the point of inclusion and they're inconsequential so it didn't affect my rating or overall experience. 

Since this is a novel about Shakespeare's son, it has to have poetic flowery language , right?
That's what I told myself going through this book, but there's a limit to the amount of nonsense I can take.
It's not necessarily a bad book, it's just long winded and extremely boring. 
The author uses way too many adjectives and synonyms to describe physical aspects of the scene that really don't add much. To me personally, I dont find mashing a bunch of words to create a paragraph to be insightful or engaging in the least.
I like it when words are there to MEAN SOMETHING! When they make me FEEL SOMETHING!! 
This is overly descriptive of a scene I don't care about! The man's just sleeping. I had no attachment to the characters and it wasn't as immersive as i would've liked it to be. I love good use of language and words but this amount of flowery language has the opposite affect on me. It distanced me from the characters and felt artificial. I tried to push through because the amount of people who love this book is crazy!
But I just couldn't take it after p.150 it's more than I would give any book before DNFing it.
