الكتاب عبارة عن قصتان: مانديل بائع الكتب القديمة و المجموعة الخفية.
قصة مانديل ذكرتني قليلًا بلاعب الشطرنج المهووس بعبقرية، كلاهم أتقن حرفته بجعلها عالمه المصغر، وانعزالهم عن الواقع. الفرق أن مانديل اختار الانعزال بينما لاعب الشطرنج أُجبر عليه.
سعة التركيز لدى الانسان محدودة، زيادة تركيزه في شيء بذاته تُنقص من تركيزه في أمور أخرى. لو صب الانسان جُل تركيزه في شيء واحد سيتقنه لحد العبقرية وبالمقابل جهله بباقي أمور الحياة سيزيد.
تكمن المشكلة في هذا النوع من الهوس أنه يصبح قيمة المرء الوحيدة، لو فقدها سيفقد معنى حياته.
في القصة الثانية يستعرض الكاتب قدرة الهوس على إضافة قيمة وسعادة بالغة في حياة الانسان، بشكل يجعله يتناسى ويتجاهل كل مساوئ ومصاعب الحياة. أحببت قصة المجموعة الخفية وأثرت فيّ أكثر. عندما يكون الوهم منجاة والكذب شفاء. قيمة الأشياء ليست ثابتة وكامنة فيها بل نحن من يحددها. بالنسبة لهيرمان الأوراق الفارغة غالية وقيمة جدًا في خياله وعالمه الخاص الذي لا يراه أحد سواه، أحزنني عدم إدراكه للواقع لكن ما أهمية الحقيقة في هذا الحال؟ سعادته بوهمه أفضل.
** رفعت تقييم الكتاب إلى خمس نجوم لأنه وبالرغم من مرور ٦ أشهر تقريبًا على قراءتي للقصتين ما زلت أفكر فيهما ولم تفارقاني، وأعتقد بأن هذا القدر من التأثير لا يأتي إلا من كتاب مميز يستحق أن يكون من كتبي المفضلة.

مقدمة الكتاب بعنوان "الترقب" مشوقة وتدخل جو، من أفضل المقدمات اللي قريتها في الروايات.
فيه أشياء ما تفسرت بس مو مضايقني الموضوع، وهذا نادر يصير لي.. فعليًا سحرني الكتاب XD
شكلي باعطيه ٥/٥ بس عشان اجواؤه الخرافية وكيف يغير مزاجي وينقلني لعالم ثاني في خيالي.

كيف أعرف ان الرواية تستاهل خمسة نجوم؟ إذا قرأتها وما حسيت ابغى أقرأ شي بعدها، أبغى فترة اتأمل واستوعب كيف أثرت الرواية فيني، لما ما اتخطاها بسرعة وتبقى في بالي. السيرك الليلي من هذه الروايات.
أعتقد هذه أول مرة اقرا فيها رواية حبكتها مي قوية ورتمها بطيء ومع ذلك استمر اقراها بحماس بسبب الأجواء اللي تخليني اعيشها وانا اقراها. كتاب سحري أسرني وشدني وسحبني لعالم مليء بالخيال لمدة قصيرة. احس بطء الحبكة قرب القصة للحياة الحقيقية بشكل ما. في واقعنا ما فيه حبكة ومشكلة نحلها بسرعة ونوصل للنهاية. الأمور تاخذ وقت وصعب تحديد النهاية لأن القصص متداخلة، قصتي وقصتك تتأثر ببعض، النهاية تعتمد على المنظور بس فعليًا الحياة تستمر والقصة تتكمل معاها.
تمنيت لو أقدر أزور سيرك الأحلام في الحقيقة مو بس في خيالي. عجيب كيف كل زوار السيرك مقتنعين أنه خداع مع انه كله سحري، بس ايش معنى السحر بتعريف الكتاب؟المفترض أنه شي أي أحد يقدر يتقنه لو بس حاول وفرغ له وقت بس مع سرعة الحياة والانشغال نسيوه الناس. صار أسهل عليهم انهم يكذّبوا وجوده ويستمتعوا بالعرض بدون ما يركزوا.

منظورنا للمعاناة هو الذي قد يبنينا أو يهدمنا. بإمكاننا جعلها فرصة للنمو الروحي أو وسيلة للاضمحلال النفسي. الأول أصعب لأنه يتطلب إدراك وتقبل للواقع بينما الثاني يبني حاجز بين الشخص وأحداث حياته ليتجاهلها إلى أجل غير مسمى، وأعتبره وسيلة دفاعية طبيعية لدى الانسان بالذات في البداية.
البيئة والظروف قد تؤثر فينا لكن وضع اللوم عليها واعتبارنا نتاج لها هي نظرة سطحية تتجاهل كوننا بشر بعقول وقيم. الأمر في الأخير يعود لإرادة المرء وشجاعته في التعبير عن قيمه ومبادئه.
بالنسبة لمعنى الحياة، أنا كمسلمة مدركة أن هدفي الأسمى هو طاعة الله ودخول الجنة بإذن الله. هذا الهدف مستحيل يتغير أو يتأثر بأي شي، هو الغاية الوحيدة الثابتة. الأهداف الدنيوية الأخرى ممكن بلحظة تختفي، تعلقنا بربنا هو اللي راح يقوينا ويخلينا نقدر نواجه أي شي. لكن ما احس ان هذا الشي الوحيد اللي يخليني احب الحياة واتحملها بنفس الوقت، فيه اشياء ثانية ربي منعمها علي بتعطي حياتي معنى، عائلتي استقراري وظيفتي علمي كلها أشياء مهمة جدًا بالنسبة لي. الكتاب يناقش فكرة أنه لو معاني الحياة الدنيوية انسلبت منك، كيف راح تعيش؟

So, I struggled to push through this one. It's not necessarily bad or completely boring the story is fine but I guess that, like in Dance of Thieves, I just dislike it when teens are in positions of power. I was also out of the mood a bit. Howeve, I will eventually read the third and final book in the series.

I devoured this book. Really liked it, but Jude's choice to stay in Faerie is not very understandable like whyyyy??? You could easily go back and live with humans, why would you stay in a place where you're considered inferior. Taryn is a complete idiot. And Carden... I have mixed feelings about him but I hate that I kind of like him.

This is the definition of a cozy read. Such a wholesome and comfy book, reading it healed a part of my soul. It was fast paced and the adventure was entertaining to follow even the songs were really good. I loved the hobbit and his character development and how he discovered traits he never knew he had. Despite the low opinion the dwarves had of him, he stood his ground and did things on his own terms and trusted his judgment. He isn't a leader and doesn't try to be, but when he needs to voice his opinion he doesn't shy away. Ugh I just loved his personality, introverted in the way that he prefers solitude and quiet and doesn't care about people's opinion of him as long as the kettles melody is playing. Cute and small yet confident and with good judgment.
Thorin was blinded by the fortune and said things he shouldn't have said, but I was so sad when he died 😭 His farewell to Bilbo was beautiful and broke my heart "Farewell, good thief". Also Bilbo's goodbye to the rest of the dwarves before going home was adorable 🥹
I want to say that Bilbo's ring is the cause of his Unstoppable youth, but he doesn't wear it all the time 🤨.
I probabl won't read the rest of the books in the series, I think it has a slower pace than The Hobbit.

The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie
I was completely and utterly SHOCKED!! I didn't suspect him in the least, only when Poirot mentioned that the murderer who altered the dictaphone must be mechanically skilled!! At that time my reading speed increased by 600% So I was reading the manuscript of Dr. Sheppard.
The reticence of Dr. Sheppard is reasonable now. How he tried to take himself out of the whole picture, how he knew exactly how to kill Roger Ackroyd instantly. The genius of Agatha Christie blew my mind. She wins everytime, I can never guess the culprit. Dr. Sheppard is ruthless, he was enjoying the nervousness of Mr. Ackroyd. Poirot suspected him all along when he was thinking about weakness, it is simply a matter of circumstances and available choices. Some may never be exposed to situations where they have to resist their weakness, so they die with honor. While others are presented with much harder choices and can't resist. Sheppard was weak as water. But ultimately he caused all this from the start when he blackmailed Mrs. Ferrars, he should've told the police instead of using it for his own advantage.
This is the first Hercule Poirot novel I've read and I love his character it's entertaining and cute and extremely smart.
I'm honestly still shocked.
