Well-written and great summary of important moments in the history of literature. Sutherland's writing style is very charming and I think I'd love this as an audiobook.
Just be aware that if you haven't read a lot of classics (and you're planning to) this will spoil all of them. So I did skim/skip certain parts that were about classics still on my TBR

I feel I would've enjoyed this so much more if I hadn't been in a reading slump. The ending had too many "deus ex machina" moments, but the characters were all wonderful and loveable. Great if you're a fan of the "found family" - trope

I felt the author showed his hands too soon, I wish he'd kept the mystery going for a bit longer

Everyone should read this. Very succinct and honest. It made me feel so seen and also very hopeful, which is incredible, cause I rarely relate to so called "self-help" books... But this was just the author telling her story and understanding that her experiences, though special and unique to her, are lived by a lot of people.
I will recommend this to anyone ever

This was just fine to me, I found it fell into the miscommunication trap too many times, not just between the main couple, but also between the main character and her friends, her family and also in the subplots between the friends, so the first three quarters dragged quite a bit.
However, I really loved reading about the relationship between Harriet and her parents... I felt very seen, and I thought her whole emotional journey was really great. The lasy quarter also was good, but the road to it was loooong.
