I recommend that everyone reads this book. Fantastic explanation of modern sex work and prostitution and what can be done to improve sex workers rights.

“Decriminalising sex work will not solve all the injustices of the world: that is too huge a problem for any one legislative change. But it will make people who are selling sex, right now and tomorrow, safer while they are doing what they need to in order to survive. That is profoundly worthwhile.” pg 207.

(I didn’t give it 5 stars as I thought some chapters were repetitive)

"Here the classic concerns of the Left for the poor and unemployed vanishes - women are not thought of as poor or unemployed on their own; no, they are thought of as the wives of poor and unemployed or they are not thought of at all.

Makes me realise that my life has been so incredibly easy.

The way Habib writes creates such a vivid picture of her life, it is enrapturing.

(And it ends happily!!!)

I really enjoyed this book! I found that this book was incredibly predictable and the twists weren’t that much of a twist. The only redeemable aspect being that the main character is so exceedingly cool. I still enjoyed it though!

This book felt like a liminal space and I don’t know how to rate it.

It is very obvious that the author poured his soul into this work. It reads like a memoir and is a gripping read. My only criticism is that it felt like it was going nowhere. I enjoyed it, don’t get me wrong, I just didn’t understand it.
