I wasn't sure about this book when I first started reading it but then the story began to unfold and I was sucked into the opioid world of Appalachia.

Thankfully the author leaves us hopeful to the fate of Demon Copperhead.

I started off hating this book. It felt like a day to day laundry list of "my life in Vietnam "  Somewhere around 40% the story took off.

As a person born in 68 the war and the vets coming home was not in my life. I was just a baby. But  I def remember Tie a Yellow Ribbon and seeing the ribbons tied every where.

I'm about to do a deep dive on the war protests, march on the capital, vets going in the republican convention,  etc.

This could have been a short story if the author hadn' t kept repeating herself.

All you see on Booktok is raves for this author.

Unpopular opinion,  this book was very Harry Potterish.. but not as good as HP.

I doubt I'll continue with any more in this series.

My favorite thing about apocalyptic fiction is the early days and the fall of society. Sadly most novels show a bit of the fall but then jump straight to "repopulate the world'.

This books was the best. It was The Event and the Immediate After the Event. I think the book takes place in a 5 month window.

Fantastically written and very enjoyable. How is this not in bookstgrams TBR piles?  They need to put away the Throne of Glass and pick up Aurora.

I forgot I don't really like books w/the same characters.   I read a "Frankie Elkin" novel last summer. While enjoyable, this book was basically the same as the 1 I previously read.

I love horror with religious themes. This story satisfies all of those!

I listened to this on audiobook. Storygraph did not have the isbn in their library.

This entire story I was pissed  off.   We don't know anything about the dad except what narrator tells us. Not much back story except for how it directly relates to narrator.

Good story but I doubt it made a good movie.

This story reminded me of Stephen King type of novels. Pretty fast read.
