I was rather confused at 1st with the style and pacing of the writing. This cleared up quickly and I was able to breeze thru this story of a haunted house.

Since we're trapped inside w/frigid air I thought this would be a good read.

Too long, too many step by steps for each person who could be the killer, too "murder on the orient express" for my taste. Plus I called the killer after person #1 died.

This was a good fairy talesque story with a princess and 3 impossible tasks. Good characters and good story line with a nice neat ending and no unnecessary spice at all!

What happened to Hansel and Gretle once they escape the witch in the gingerbread house?  After The Forest tells that tale.

This was a pretty good fairy tale with several stories mixed together. You had Snow White and Rose Red and Hansel and Gretle. Throw in some shape shifter wolves and a cursed bear, a non-spicy romance and you have a fast read.

The reason this story gets 4* rather than 5 is because the MC refuses to let people explain their actions and instead just runs off. I hate that in a story.

This is the 2nd in a 3 part series but the way the book ends does not require continuing to part 3.

Novels set in pre-revolution Russia, especially set in winter, are so interesting to me.  I love the descriptions of what the winter landscape looks like, the ways people keep warm, religious and pagan traditions,  all of it.  This series has it!

This was also a fast read. The story does not get bogged down with useless love stories or unnecessary spicy scenes for the sake of spice.

The reason for 4 stars is because it's a series. Too many books to read to be tied down with repetitive characters and stories.

This was a good retelling of sleeping beauty. Too bad it was just a novella instead of a full novel. I enjoyed this one!

This has all the beautiful descriptions of the swamp and coastal Louisiana that Where the Crawdads Sing has. This is a better story with unfortunatel  not as satisfactory of an ending as Crawdads.

Stories set in the small towns of LA and wrapped up with religious overtones of God and the devil are always interesting to me.  If you're a fan of True Detective season #1, this is similar.  You're just not sure what's going in until the very end of the story.

This is a 3 book series. Book 1 was not a bad story but I don't feel like investing more time to read the other two.

The ability to control  elements was a cool feature. I dint read much sci-fi/fantasy so that may be a trope in other novels.
