I enjoyed the story and the writing style of this book. A good, fresh take on werewolf lore

This book started  out gangbusters but the ending was so meh. Like wtf happened? 

I've been fooled by this author before. He starts off strong, the story telling is great and then somewhere around 3/4 through he just punts. He did this with Red Peak and he did it with this one.

I couldn't wait to hear about the psychological experiments from the 70s. I couldn't wait to expand upon the demon that haunted the police officer and I couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen. Until I saw the direction the story was heading. Sadness.

And then ending. Dang, deLouie just soft tossed that to finish the story. What a waste of a good premise.

This book is part 1 of a series. I assume magical crime solving. That genre is not really my jam so I won't continue the series. 

The story itself was fast moving and kept me interested for the whole time but I kept feeling like iwas reading an adult version of Harry Potter. Too many tidy wrapup of plot lines.

This was a story within a story. We have the story of Baba Yaga and the progroms against the Jews in Russia and we have the story of the modern day descendant  of Baba Yaga trying to figure out why a ghost haunts them.

Overall this was an enjoyable listen (audiobook)  good narration and discernable characters. The story itself was just too long. I'd say the story could have been lessened by a fourth.

It did pass the time on my new commute and keep me entertained. 

This book took an unexpected twist!  Throughly enjoyable read. 

People really like this book. If the whol  book would have been as exciting as the last 1/4,  this book have received 5 stars. It was too slow in the beginning and not really slow in a good way like Game of Thrones.

All in all a good but long read. I probably would have enjoyed it more if it hadn't been a library book with people having it on hold behind me.

This was terrible. I should have not gotten it based upon my dislike for his other book. If the whole book would have been as interesting as the epilogue I would have at least given it 2*

This book was a cross between The Night Eternal and Underworld!  Fast paced and exciting I was turning pages to see what happened.

Not vampire but similar with their old world ways and integrating into modern society while staying apart is the theme of the story.
