Harley Laroux is my favorite author now.
Lovecraftian themes? Level 5 spice? Monsters? Fuck yes
The way they write spice is my favorite. It's raw and rough and while batshit it's also very realistic. The check-ins feel realistic and NOT awkward. But beyond that, the way they write the feelings of a submissive and brat behavior and punishment are fantastic.
The only thing about this book I didn't like was the FMC. There were so many times I sat up and yelled "don't fucking touch that!" In my room I lost count. By the end I understood why but that didn't make her less frustrating. I understood the MMCs frustration. I want to be clear that the FMC isn't poorly written, I believe she's written to be frustrating, especially as we get to the end.
(edit after second book, specifically about how Rae was written, no story spoilers: I was write about rae )

Girl with a truly shitty life falls in with 'right' crowd at school, and her life is irrevocably changed when they betray her (surprise!). Demons, deals, sex parties, and revenge are all on the table. We know the outcome, but holy shit is this a fucking ride!
Overall reco: If you enjoyed Leon And Rae's story and are unsure if you will be able to read a retelling while you know the ending. I will offer this up. It's worth it. You don't know the whole story and there is enough other shit that went down while Rae and Leon were being dumb horror movie kids that this will likely tickle your fancy.
Plot: 5/5
Spice: 5/5

The nerdy boy and the jock start an OnlyFans, hijinks ensue. Oh, they are also stepbrothers. Also, TRAUMA!
The story is straightforward, character driven drama. There isn't an overlarge 'must save the world' plot. Everything is just the plot of life. Which is great. These are my favorite books. Seeing a series of snapshots into the lives of people completely different from me and then experiencing it.
This book made me realize how much I love SunshineXGrump. I loved these boys, I loved the cast, I want more

City girl spends a week travelling with 3 rodeo men in a 'coming of sexual age' agreement. Sword crossing, jealousy, and escapades abound!
Overall Reco: Do you like Rodeo's? Do you like Cowboys? Do you like many scenes with some pretty good spice? Then you'll like this. I'm not going to tell you to have this jump your TBR like I did with mine, but I was not sad that I did it in the end.

Proud but serially unlucky girl gets into stupid rich kid school and runs afoul the resident 'king', who then proceeds to make her life a living hell (for fun and because he's got a kink for it). Sexual tension flairs, as do the sheer number of problems girl has to deal with.. oh and then NOTHING gets resolved because it's a series. I'm bitter that I didn't know it was a series..

The saga of the poor girl and the rich boy continues! The Rich boy must prove his worth and continue to develop his character while the poor girl continues to get the worst fucking luck and the entire universe shits upon her! The plot, meanwhile, goes off the fucking rails.
Spice was low and uninteresting, plot was really dull and super obvious. The only reason this got so many stars from me is West's character development.

Straight laced self doubting girl breaks it off with Ex only to end up in a full on Secretary situation with his dad. Sexual hijinks ensue along with plenty of guilt and self loathing, only to have a pretty satisfying ending.
