Shelter by Harlan Coben
3.0
I like Mickey Bolitar and I can't wait for this YA series by Coben to continue. It's fast-paced and just as quick, funny, and suspenseful as any Myron Bolitar novel.
SPOILER ALERT...
I've never known a Coben novel to end on a cliffhanger (I'm about six away from having read them all) and I'm excited to see where Mickey's journey goes.

Promise Me by Harlan Coben

This is the Myron Bolitar story that explains what he's been up to since he's been MIA. I'd read one of the books in the series that happens after this one and it was good to read this and get some of the backstory. The mystery in this novel was just as good as other Coben novels, but I don't think it's broken into my top 5 list of his books. Again, it was a page-turner that I had to read in one night.
Diary of a Mad Fat Girl by Stephanie McAfee

Fun story. I really liked the protagonist, Ace, and her group of friends. I'll definitely look out for more books by McAfee.

This book is huge, 800+ pages huge. It's a great King yarn, just like his other heavyweights like "Under the Dome". Going back in time to right a wrong that you believe will make the present-day world a better place. There's nothing wrong with that. I rooted for Jake and I was excited to see what 2011 would look like if Kennedy had lived. This is definitely worth the read, but it will own your nightstand for a while.

I love this genre of fiction, which is why I was disappointed that I didn't enjoy this novel more. All of the elements were there, but a few things felt out of place for me. I like the protagonist and I'll still read the Taylor Jackson series, but I wasn't happy with her rival in this novel. The web the antagonist created seemed way too far-reaching for me. I still enjoyed the plot and outcome, but I wold have preferred less connections between the antagonists. My rating could probably be higher (I read the novel in one night so it's true that I couldn't put it down), but I'm going to leave as is for now.
The Final Detail by Harlan Coben

It was good reading a Esperanza-centric Myron novel. I have one more book left in this series and I'm hoping there'll be a Win-centric one in the future. This one wasn't one of my top 3 Myron stories, but it was still a fast, fun read.
Live Wire by Harlan Coben
5.0
I wish I had read this one before "Shelter", but it didn't ruin anything for me. I've read a lot of the Bolitar series out of sequence, but I've still enjoyed every single one. With the Bolitar novel I read before this one, I was hoping for a Win-centric episode. I have a feeling that we might see something coming up, especially with the way this one ended. Fingers crossed that the Coben novel coming out this fall picks up where "Live Wire" left off.
