This is super fun the art is sooooo beautiful. I just wish it was slightly less scooby-doo-ish and more like. Scary and personal. The characters seem a little one-dimensional at this stage

I loved this I thought it was really interesting and thoughtful although the ending was slightly confusing like
like I thought Azi killed the kid by running him over hence the framing thing, but then at the end Daru says he "starts to remember" did he just mean he forgot about the accident? Or does that entail that he actually was the one responsible for the kid.?? Idk
. Overall It was a really good story to see someone's descent to madness.

Some of these poems i really disliked and others i loved, particularly the ones about Chi (forgot she’s in my pfp too lol) and the Moon ones towards the end. I loved the turing test style. Very beautiful

This was mind boggling y’all. I don’t think i could say enough good things abt this book so I’m just gonna compare reading each story to watching specific movies. ¯\_(•3•)_/¯
  1. the first story was like watching Helter Skelter (2012), Love Exposure, Bones and All, Anti-Christ, Raw, and Titane.
  2. The second one is like watching Killing of a Sacred Deer, The Lodge, Enys Men, & Saint Maud.
  3. The third is JUST like Speak No Evil, The Invitation (2015) and Creep.
read it!

i loved this actually. I think everyone's criticisms are still strong but if you go into this pretending its a short story (which it is) and prepared to dislike MOST of the characters i think it was super interesting. It really felt like the language and the scenes were suggesting a regression into protohumanism, or as if the author was hinting at the 'we're all just monkeys' trope. I loved that, and i loved the language.

Main character sucked, and so did a lot of the side characters, but i loved the dealer. The main character reminds me of "Control" from Authority by jeff vandermeer just more hateful, which is funny because the Southern reach trilogy also has the whole 'nameless biologist' thing going on.

Juan cárdenas also wrote this article about gardens i think is  lovely. https://lithub.com/a-small-parenthesis-how-gardens-and-stories-can-create-space-to-breathe/
