Why I'm No Longer Talking to White People About Race by Reni Eddo-Lodge
challenging
informative
medium-paced
4.5
I’m actually sad that this journey is over. I did not want this book to end.
Though the title is so provocative, the contents are not- Except for the article in the beginning that started the writing of this whole book. The tone of that article is angry and hurt, however the rest if the book isn’t, and it actually ends on an optimistic note. It lures you in with the cover then gives you the information in a well-presented and laid out way.
The author’s voice comes through loud and clear. Proving point after point, dissecting racism and its effects on everything. It really is and essential handbook about racism.
The refreshing thing about it is that it is from Britain’s POV. The history that had been slept on for year, or overshadowed by the American one. I learned a lot from the history chapter alone, and then had discussions in the margins with this book, with the point I saw differently, and went rogue with my highlighters over the points I strongly agreed with.
One of my goals of this year is to read books that intellectually challenge or stimulate me and this was the perfect read for that!

The Third Wheel by Jeff Kinney

Okay, so NOT surprisingly I finished this book in one day, and it's one of the very few books that I finish in one day, but it's very entertaining that you can't put off..at least not for long.
I found it funny, it made me laugh out loud, and that doesn't happens to me often whilst reading books, I also liked that it doesn't just tell you one story, no..there are many stories in one, fun!
Oh and I want to read the rest :D

It's this thing about all of Paulo Coelho's novels; He gives you a new different perspective.
I found myself, whilst reading it, understanding Maria's thinking and point of view, not judging, not blaming, and not pointing fingers.
I bought this book in the first place to try to change my look to things: sex, prostitution, love and lust, and this book succeeded to do so.
The story started really fun and interesting, it was even hard to put down.. But when it got deeper and deeper, so did the sexual philosophy, and that what made it lost that one star, though I'm glad Paulo brought the origin and history of prostitution.
Last but not least (Not least at all) is The End, which was WONDERFUL! :D and the fact that this Maria is a real person whose this book is based on her story, and that she had the same happy ending too makes it even more Wonderful!
