I remember growing up and loving coming home from school to watch iCarly. Sam & Cat came along which I found a bit cringey. Then they ended and I pretty much forgot about all of it.

Then I saw all of the hype for Jennette releasing her book and the title alone grabbed my attention. Everyone was talking about it and my first thought was that it was just going to be another boring celeb autobiography with no substance and bad writing.

It's a tough read because Jennette is so open and honest about her struggles with eating disorders, her toxic relationship with her mother and trying to deal with a lot of fame she never asked for in the first place. Her writing is so impressive and I admire how candid she is, it's not easy talking about our demons, let alone telling the whole world.

I hope she continues to take care of herself and if she ever writes anything else, I would definitely read it.

I saw some people saying that they thought it took too long for the book to get to the "exciting part". I personally loved the build up and thought it really gave some great background information for the characters.

King really is a master of descriptions, the world building made me feel as if I was there with Charlie. The characters were so interesting (including the dog) I have a German Shepherd so was excited to see one being in this.

I personally can't fault the book.

It feels wrong to say I "liked" this book. The majority of it made me feel very uncomfortable. At the time of reading this, I have a 14 year old nephew and nearly felt sick reading this.

At the same time, it was well written and it clearly showcases the depravity of this woman's mind.

What's really sickening is that because she's a young, very attractive woma, it must be every young boys dream to have such advances made on them.

When reversed and it's a male teacher seducing/grooming a young girl, there's immediate uproar. As there should be but it should be the exact same for a female. At the end of the day, no matter how "hot" someone is, a teacher or whatever their profession, in their late 20s going after 14 year olds, they are predators.

I really liked the "confessions", found them interesting and Jack is intriguing. I didn't give 5 stars because whether or not it was done purposefully, the errors in the writing itself were bit of an issue for me.

It was interesting enough that I'll read the others in the series but don't go in to it expecting brilliant writing. If you're looking for a quick, entertaining read, definitely give this series a go. Looking forward to reading the others.
