She Who Became the Sun by Shelley Parker-Chan
4.0
Oh my god I loved this book with all my heart. This themes of striving for greatness when you’re supposed to be nothing, the constant theme of gender and what it means- just *chefs kiss*
This book was written like absolute poetry and I highly recommend!!
Also the gayness in this book is simply amazing.
The only reason I rate it 4.5 instead of 5 was I felt the ending didn’t quite match but on a whole this book is soooo worth it.

So so so emotional, powerful and beautifully sad. This book is everything. I loved reading about Maren slowly become more independent and confident.
Such a fantastic book, absolutely recommend!! Please check trigger warnings before reading tho, there are some heavy themes in this book!

This Is How You Lose the Time War by Max Gladstone, Amal El-Mohtar

Beautiful beautiful beautiful!!!
So very confusing and puzzle-solving. I must have read every page twice to figure what was going on. Which was such a fun challenge for me but beware that’s what you’re getting into.
This book is what other books hope to be. It’s that simple. It’s so very amazing and poetic and mesmerising! I still think about it months later and will probably for months to come.

The Black Unicorn by Audre Lorde

Simply Fantastic! I cannot wait to read other Audre lorde work.
This collection does have some dark themes so check the TW.
I read it so quickly and couldn’t seem to put it down, the works in here and so moving, inspiring, thought-evoking and eye opening. I am a new found lover of Audre Lorde works. I will be collecting her works to add to my shelf

If Not, Winter: Fragments of Sappho by Sappho
4.0
Considering that these are simply the fragments of Sappho’s work, and they were that good, I think simply her work was lost on purpose for being better than anyone else’s.
I read this in one sitting and it still wasn’t enough. I want to go back in time and personally protect her work from damage. Her poetry is so beautiful and funny and so so very gay.

Pandora's Jar by Natalie Haynes
5.0
One of the best books I have ever read!! This book I still think about 3 months later and probs will for the rest of my life. It awakened this new outlook in me that will have forever changed me.
A feminist essay on every woman in the Greek myths sounds boring but Natalie Haynes writing is superb and makes a way of enticing you in that you don’t even know time is passing and so it’s like 2am and you’re halfway through the book.
I’m so looking forward to rereading just to reabsorb all the details because the time went by like a blur. Would so recommend!!

Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
4.0
4.5 stars out of 5 ⭐️⭐️ (only lost some because one character got on my nerves).
THIS BOOK!! Hearbreakingly tragically sad and yet so beautiful! It quickly became one of my top 5 books of all time.
There isn’t much about this book that I don’t like:
The plot-immaculate✨
The writing-immaculate✨
The description-immaculate✨
The characters-(bar one)-immaculate✨
The outlook on society-immaculate✨
And the fact that Miss Mary Feckin Shelley wrote this at 18 in 1818 from a dream solidifies the piece of artwork that this is for it’s time. This book defo made me fall in love with this style of writing but I’m so afraid that I won’t find anything as good with so much meaning!

Book TW: abuse, gore, murder
4 out of 5 stars ⭐️
Really good! A lot darker themes than I was expecting and I’m probably not going to reread anytime soon.
However this book was so poetic in its darkness, I couldn’t help but love it. This book was defo worth the read but be prepared for some hefty gaslighting and some typical man evilness.
