This narrative doesn’t interrogate any of the history it recites and seems to accept the perspectives from the journals of these so-called adventurers as fact without evaluation or even exploration of different perspectives. I had so many questions and ultimately this narrative was deeply incurious.

Kate Quinn has a formula but it's a formula for a good time so I'm not complaining. This was a good time and had some of my very favorite character archetypes and relationship formulas.
