Is it plausible that their family-run hotel was doing so poorly that at one point they had no guests? Isn't it supposed to be hard to get a hotel room in NYC? I just couldn't believe that a hotel so close to Central Park would suffer, even if it was run-down. Enjoyed the writing.

I liked this book for the strong voice of the protagonist, Jane, but I knew the ending was going to make it or break it; It didn't work for me. How about the angel guy, Owen? He was no help at all at the end. I would've been like, thanks for nothin', dude.

This is a good book about high school friendships and relationships, feeling awkward, and all that growing up stuff. The main character is a social-anxiety-ridden "brain" whose best friendship is threatened (she thinks) by a guy coming into the picture. To complicate matters, her dad starts dating her friend's mom. The book has really good momentum, I read it in one night. The Danny character was little predictable. Takes place in or near Miami, FL, modern-day.

I hadn't heard of this book before Goodreads. The author bio says this British author also wrote the Hundred and One Dalmatians. Coming-of-age; lots of self-actualization; descriptions of nature and how nature makes you feel; great characterizing: a genius writer father, a bohemian step-mom, a sister and brother with strong personalities, a doting farmhand, and a couple of loverboys who come into this family's life and shake things up.

I didn't feel sympathetic with any of the characters in this implausible yet predictable novel that takes place in Battle Creek at Dr.Kellogg's health spa. Actually, I felt sympathetic with Will for his severe indigestion problem because I have been having acid reflux myself, but his story and the other intertwining stories went nowhere and were so repetitive, it was punishment to read all the way to the end; but I did, because I don't rate a book if I don't read all of it.
