wait cause i’m so sad to have finished this 😭😭😭 this was undoubtedly the best book of the series omg. i loved cresta becoming a main character and her personality really fit into the group plus her contrast to kiva made them a great pair imo. definitely did not see it coming that she was navok’s brother lol but what a great twist. also obsessed with the sneaky romances of cresta & caldon and torell & ashlyn, so cute 🤲 kiva’s angeldust addiction was really dark but i think it was a good addition and something ive never really read in a fantasy book. ugh the angst between jaren and kiva had me 😩😩 so glad they finally worked it out they’re so cute tgt 🥲 and oh my god not the death scare with caldon… i was so sad and was hoping he hadn’t actually died, thank god i was right 😭 i am a bit sad that kiva lost her powers in the end, i feel like she deserved to keep them but at least jaren got his back

this book was kind of weird idk what specifically but there was something about it… i didn’t connect like i usually do but it was enjoyable enough. i thought the povs were interesting and everen talking about arcady saying ‘you’ instead of their name was new but i didn’t mind it

oh my god i love fantasy books. this was so much better than i anticipated i need the sequel NOW. as a slight aside i would like to say that this book is so beautiful. i have the hardback and i love the artwork on the dust cover, its so magical and i love the details. and the book underneath the dust cover is sooo gorgeous omg i love the shiny details and the crests of sardovia and kesath are a nice touch. aside over. this might be one of the best enemies to lovers i’ve ever read and i think the reason it’s written so well is because it’s really drawn out which is how it should be. they didn’t get together til the end but they’re still not actually together and all the tension and pining and internal conflict they both have because they’re confused about their feelings UGH so so good. and they are proper enemies for political reasons not just they find each other annoying. the worldbuilding was good, not overly complicated so it was easy to understand. and i love a book with a map. i’m very intrigued as to where they will go from where they are now because alaric still seems set on conquering the entire continent but talasyn is obviously not going to let that happen. will alaric concede? hmm. OH AND UNRELATED BUT WHEN ALARIC CALLED HER TALA LITERALLY IN BED i died

oh SHIT this was so much better than the first book omg i was hooked !!! jaren and kiva’s relationship confuses me a bit because he acts like they’re dating and kisses her and stuff but never on the mouth and idk but i’m glad they did eventually kiss but then it was interrupted 😞 did not expect mirryn to be working with zuleeka oh and caldon knowing who kiva was from the start. and rhess damn so many little plot twists. and not kiva going back to zalindov my poor girl 😭 and i hate when miscommunication trope but someone else miscommunicates like what zuleeka said abt kiva to jaren but it’s not the full truth and she couldn’t defend herself ughhh

i kind of started out hating this book a bit which was disappointing because i love better than the movies and the do-over. idk it was when bailey and charlie were talking about the guys and girls can’t be friends thing on the plane and his line about picturing every woman naked??? soo sexist and just not the vibe. also basing an entire book off the idea that guys and girls can’t be friends seems a little backwards to me. charlie was also just annoying and so ugh but it ended up being a bit enjoyable and i like a happy ending

my favourite part about this book was how realistic it was. firstly because it’s set in england there’s so many things i can relate to and it’s accurate to secondary school dynamics. secondly the way that the friendship group has different personalities in it and yeah sometimes they clash and fall out but in the end they make up because they care about each other. and thirdly how normal isabel and eloise’s love story was, like they were just two girls who went to the same school and ended up liking the other. it was very healthy and mature the way they made up at the end and realised their own flaws and how they had been projecting which obviously led to the fallout but they learned from it. also the adhd rep was really nice to see and again was so realistic. it was so nice how her friends would subtly calm her like by stopping her from picking at her skin or tapping her fingers etc, just little gestures but so cute. also love benji being usable and eloise’s number one cheerleader, and wil was a really fun character
