Short and to the point a good quick read if you need a reminder of how awesome you are
The Singles Table by Tasmina Perry

I really enjoyed this but I have had to give it a 4 star as I thought the ending was too sudden and rushed. I want to know more about how their coffee went or if they stayed together etc. I’m hoping the author adds a second book to the series as both characters have so much more to give and if they do stay together there is clearly going to be some strains and relationship anxiety.
The idea of a playboy and a shy girl is a very common trope but the back story is so brilliant for the characters it’s definitely a lovely book to read and make you feel like the good peeps have the happy ending.

Mythos by Stephen Fry
5.0
Stephen Fry you are a storytelling genius! I adored this book it’s now my favourite book I’ve read as an adult. I read the ebook version but honestly I could hear Stephen Fry’s voice saying it.
This is a retelling of Greek mythology but in Fry’s humour and wit. If I was a good writer I may be able to find the words to describe the awesomeness of this book but as I’m not Stephen Fry I can’t find enough synonyms to describe it other than AWESOME!!!

Wordslut: A Feminist Guide to Taking Back the English Language by Amanda Montell

Edited: I need to stop marking things as 5 stars straight away as once I have reflection I’m like no it should be 4 stars the main takeaway was there was no references if I handed an essay in for uni with no references I would be told I was plagiarising.
really don’t know how to review this it was read as a part of a book club and it definitely struck a lot of feelings from me. As a cis white woman I’ve definitely faced the sexism discussed in the book from being sporty and fighting for taekwondo to now nearly a qualified biomedical scientist I’ve been ignored, told to go to the kitchen or watch coronation street from men when I have proven their covid theories wrong with actual science and been told a girl shouldn’t ‘fight’. I’ve sat on the review as we had our book club chat but I really liked this book I will say I think a reference list would of been able to back up the authors theories more but I love language and how it shows as a society where we are at the moment!

Becoming by Michelle Obama
5.0
This was everything I wanted it to be and more. I listened to the audiobook of this and wow Michelle Obama’s voice is like gold. I loved the stories of her youth and how she grew up as I grew up in a council estate and quite a rough town in northern England this made me honestly feel like I could rock the world and do anything I want to with hard work and determination!
