This book was not what I expected.

 Iโ€™ve been going back and forth since I finished on how I feel about this one.

I did really enjoy it in the end, but it took a bit for me to get there.

I struggled and found the first 200 ish pages slow and I really took a while to get a grasp on the characters as there are quite a lot with many different perspectives.

But once I did get a grasp on everyone, and hit the half way point, I couldnโ€™t get enough of this book.

I had a completely different theory forming in my head and I loved having everything I thought turned upside down as I did not see that ending coming.

This would make for a great fall read, especially if you love a good slow burn mystery.

What can I say about this book, and this entire series, that could do it justice.

I fell in love with the town of Inglewild and all these characters when I first read ๐™‡๐™ค๐™ซ๐™š๐™ก๐™ž๐™œ๐™๐™ฉ ๐™๐™–๐™ง๐™ข๐™จ three years ago.  And this quickly became one of my favourite romance series and I am not ready to say goodbye.

We return to Inglewild one last time in ๐˜ฝ๐™ช๐™จ๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™š๐™จ๐™จ ๐˜พ๐™–๐™จ๐™ช๐™–๐™ก where Nova Porter is setting up her new tattoo studio in her hometown.  Sheโ€™s determined not to be distracted but she canโ€™t help it whenever Stellaโ€™s stepbrother Charlie is around.

Nova offers a proposition of one night, with no strings, hoping to get it out of their systems.   But after one explosive night they canโ€™t stop thinking about each other.

I loved Charlie and Novaโ€™s chemistry right from the beginning.  Charlie is just a fun upbeat guy with a big heart and you immediately swoon over him.

Nova is Beckettโ€™s younger sister and sheโ€™s got spunk.  I loved her passion for her craft and for life.  They were just perfect for each other and had intense chemistry and hilarious banter.

Being back in this small town just had me so happy.  The phone tree did not disappoint and had me laughing out loud.  The family dinners, committee meetings.    This is what makes this adorable little town feel like home.

Thank you BK for creating this fictional world for us to lose ourselves in and these characters for us to love.

Luka, Stella, Beckett, Evelyn, Layla, Caleb, Charlie, Nova and the town of Inglewild have my heart.  ๐Ÿ’œ

And you said it best, โ€œ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ ๐˜จ๐˜ข๐˜ต๐˜ฆ๐˜ด ๐˜ต๐˜ฐ ๐˜“๐˜ฐ๐˜ท๐˜ฆ๐˜ญ๐˜ช๐˜จ๐˜ฉ๐˜ต ๐˜ธ๐˜ช๐˜ญ๐˜ญ ๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ธ๐˜ข๐˜บ๐˜ด ๐˜ฃ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฑ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ," and I will return to these pages again and again.

I really wanted to love this one but sadly it was a miss for me.

I donโ€™t know if it was reading it at the wrong time and a me thing, or if itโ€™s the book itself.

It was a slow burn, but I almost felt like it was too slow and it was struggling to keep my attention.

I like a good dual or multiple POV, but this felt a bit too much between Camden and Julesโ€™s POV, Rubyโ€™s letters and news articles.

In the end I felt this was more of a domestic family drama then a thriller and it just wasnโ€™t for me.

I listened to the audiobook and I did really like the multiple narrators.

Thanks Netgalley and St Martins Press for an advanced audio copy for an honest review.

I had taken a little break from reading fantasy, but Iโ€™m right back in my fantasy era after reading ๐™ƒ๐™š๐™–๐™ง๐™ฉ๐™ก๐™š๐™จ๐™จ ๐™ƒ๐™ช๐™ฃ๐™ฉ๐™š๐™ง.

My goodness this book!!!

I was hooked right from the beginning.  I loved this magical world and the unique way that the witches performed their magic.

I loved the dual POV and it was executed perfectly.   Gideon and Rune hate each other but try to use one another to gain intel all while trying to ignore their intense chemistry.

There was the perfect mix of action and romance.  The story was captivating and I especially liked getting the backstory of the witches and the revolution.

This is a quick fast paced romantasy that you canโ€™t help but be transformed into the pages of.

The twists and turns were plenty and that ending still has me shook.

The cliffhanger sets up the sequel perfectly and Iโ€™m itching to continue this series with ๐™๐™š๐™—๐™š๐™ก ๐™’๐™ž๐™ฉ๐™˜๐™.

If youโ€™re a fan of fantasy, enemies to lovers, forbidden romance, then you need to grab this book!

Iโ€™m really not sure how I ultimately feel about this one.

I know this has been very loved in the Booktok and Bookstagram worlds, so Iโ€™m offering an unpopular opinion here.   And itโ€™s also why I hesitated and waited so long to read it.

Ultimately I think I did enjoy this book.   But I didnโ€™t really like it until about half way through.
I donโ€™t mind a good slow burn, but this one took a long time and I was finding I was losing interest quickly.

I really liked the parallels to ๐™‡๐™ž๐™ฉ๐™ฉ๐™ก๐™š ๐™’๐™ค๐™ข๐™š๐™ฃ and the complex relationship between William and the Padavano sisters, which is what I think kept me going.

I listened to the audio and Maura Tierney did a fantastic job narrating.

Meg, you did it again!!!

I loved this book.

I was so looking forward to Teddy and Nellieโ€™s story.  Their chemistry, witty banter, the forced proximity, the secret tattoos, literally just everything worked so well!

I absolutely loved the dual POV and the before and after parts.   My fave was the before parts as I really loved seeing how Teddy and Nellie met and the things they went through.

I especially loved their meet cute.   I mean it really couldnโ€™t have been more perfect for these two.

This book has an amazing cast of characters and I loved every single person.
And it wouldnโ€™t be a Megan McSpadden book without a beloved dog companion and this time we get Kevin!!!

Another knockout book!!!   So proud of you Meg.
