I still love it like I did when I was 19 reading it in my first year in college. I honestly understand it more now than I did then. At first I didn't like the fact she left the kids but now I understand why. She never felt like she was mother to them in the first place which she said. She always felt like they were her playthings like her father and then her husband treated her. It's not to say that once she discover who she truly is and what she believe that she won't come back for her kids and be a mother to them. I believe she would but she have to find herself in order to do that. This is why this play is consider fenmist cause at the end Nora did something that some women at that time dream of doing. Leaving to find themselves in this world. So A Doll's House is still one of my faves.

"No. He was not here to wreak revenge.
For revenge was trifling and hollow.
No. He was not here to retrieve his wife.
For his wife was not a thing to be retrieved.
No. He was not here to negotiate a truce.
For a truce suggested he wished to compromise.
The boy-king spurred his black al-Khamsa forward, its hooves kicking up a storm of dust and debris.
He was here to burn something to the ground"

This book was wonderful from the beginning to the end just like the first book. I was going to give it 4.5 but with that shocking plot twist, I had to give it a 5. Everything about the whole series from the characters, plot and writing style was so beautiful and I'm so sad to see it end.

Edit: The more I thought about it today,I think it deserved a 4.5 instead of a 5 due to the fact it was still some things I feel like wasn't wrapped up..

Oh goodness! This book was so good!

Everything from the plot, to seeing Belle, the Beast, and the gang back in action and more fleshed out than their animated movie counterparts.

This is pretty much a tie-in for the upcoming live action movie that can placed when the Beast show and give Belle the library. So it takes place a little after their initial meeting, her going to the west wing thus leaving and him saving her from the wolves. Just think of Belle's Enchanted Christmas which was a tie in for the animated version but a whole lot better. Belle's realtionship with everyone is way more fleshed out and her character as well. ( Her relationship with the Beast with her trying to figure him out and trying figure out does she want to be friends with him.. .. Oh my heart) You can feel her sadness and loneliness about her situation and understand why she got "lost in a book" where she can forget about her troubles and be happy. But sometimes escapism can be more trouble than dealing with real life and your problems which Belle figured out. The Original Characters to story was delight as well. It honestly gave me Caroline vibes on how Lady Death acted towards Belle. It was almost like how the Caroline fake mother acted towards her. ( So Terri Hatcher for Lady Death if they ever do a movie.)

There are two reasons why I gave it a 4.5 instead of a full five.

1. Without any spoilers the ending felt a little Deux Ex Machina to me and how everything got resolved. I honestly wanted a little bit more like maybe Belle and Beast actually talking about it.

2. The chapters are way too short. Now I have read some of Jennifer Donnelly before ( I need to go back to Resolution asap) and that always been my biggest gripe with her. Her writing is simple but amazing but her chapters are too damn short. I don't like super like 20 plus chapters but 2 page chapters are extremely too short. She could have really combined like four -five chapters together and it could have been like 10-12 pages which is a nice chapter size. So instead of 65 chapters plus prologue and epilogue it could have been 13 chapters with prologue and epilogue.

Other than than this book was such a good read and really got me hype for the movie!

I tried so hard to like this and the characters but I couldn't. I was going to DNF this so many times but I kept going thinking that it would get better but it never did.

I wonder if the Darkling looked as old as his age, would people still ship him and Alina together…..

Yeah Cause Manipulation, seduction and being bonded to him against her will is so hot…..

Nope

I’m not finishing this series at all because I’m very disappointed in it…

The only things I like is the magical aspect with the Grisha and the potential of world building..

But other than that….

The only character I truly liked and was interested in was Genya cause she was the only one with true potential...

Weak Protagonist, Bland Love interest, Could have been a good ( like up there with Voldemort and Darth Vader) if he wasn’t lusting after the protagonist Villain.

I am going to give Six of Crows a try since everyone says that is way better. So I’m praying that I will like that!

Edit: I have more word vomit with this book!

Holy Shit! This was a damn good book! Is this book even real? Is this really the same author that wrote Shadow and the Bone? The book I read last week and gave it a one star? I mean seriously.

THIS IS A MILLION TIMES BETTER THAN SHADOW AND BONE.

NO!

A BILLION TIMES BETTER!

THE CHARACTERS!

THE PLOT!

THE WORLDBUILDING!

THE FRIENDSHIPS!

THE FREAKING BUDDING ROMANCE!

I JUST! WHAT!

I don't know why I feel like Leigh wrote The Grisha series just to get her foot into the YA world while Six of Crows is her true baby..... I think the main reason I didn't like Shadow and Bone because it felt very generic YA to me. That disappointed me because heard how amazing the book and Leigh was, Now with SoC. it felt more original and her able to explore her world she build in Grisha series without to many constraints. Everything felt more organic and not rushed at all. I mean all three potential couples in SoC have way more chemistry than Alina and Mal did... That's refreshing to me. Also their backstories were so rich and made you understand the character present day actions better. ( Oh My darling bastard Kaz. No 9 year shouldn't have to go through that shit at all. Inej is a fucking survivor. I want to have waffles with Nina.)

The only gripe I have is wanting to know more of Wylan which I have a feeling I will in CK. He was the only one of the six that I really didn't know to much about until towards the end. Other than that it was amazing!

It's worth the hype!
