Carrie Soto Is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid

No one is writing unlikeable women like TJR. This is hands down my favorite book of hers so far, I could NOT stop reading. I felt like this book taught me more about tennis than I ever cared about learning. I cried so hard I posted a photo on my close friends story. I this also broke my reading slump that the fourth wing put me into.
My Sister, the Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite
THIS BOOK WAS VERY STRESSFUL AND EVERY ELDEST DAUGHTER WILL HAVE A HARD TIME NOT IDENTIFYING WITH THE PLIGHT OF THE MAIN CHARATER. While I know that we are not all cleaning up behind our little sisters who are serial killers, we understand the level of selflessness' required to do the hard thing over and over again.

blah blah blah.
This book was written for TV or after TV, in any event it did not work. The scenes were too abundant and choppy. The development of these characters were a farce and the quickwitted reprotie I have come to expect and cherish from Julia Quinn was nowhere to be found.
You are better off just watching the show. The priase that came from the colorblind casting of season 1 of Bridgerton turned this book into something it did not need to be. When whoever decided that Bridgerton was going to dive into the waters of race/representation in the 'Ton Quinn and Rhimes provided the thinnest, weakest, watered down version. This book could have been a rich wine in story telling but instead we got great value grape juice, a rushed project with little to no actual thought to how these characters would handle Black people being lifted up in the London society. Creating a fictional, thoughtless world where there were POC Lords and Ladies did more harm than good. This series should have gone the way of Brandi's Cinderella, told the story that already existed with POC not shift the story around to do a half assed job of making it seem deeper. The way Black women were potrayed in this book was handled with such shadow of care it can barely even qualify. I give books one star if I think they should not have been written and that is how I feel about Queen Charlotte. This book was better as movie...
One last thing, the bricks were there, for this to be a good book but this entire books felt like a Freshman in college showing up and answering questions based on the rest of the class and not based on the reading. SORRY IF THIS IS RAMBLING I JUST EXPECTED SO MUCH MORE.

This is a perfect book.
I missed a meeting because I could not put it down, these characters capture your heart and simply refuse to let go, this book was done so well that it has made me completely reconsider my position of popular trope - but I still think it's possible only Hannah can do it well...There is a humanity in Bo and Win that feels like I know them, I feel like I am cheering them on every step of the way and saying "you crazy kids can do this". The heart behind these pages shines through in every single interaction, in every moment you cannot help but root for them.
The love that forms between these two characters feels incredibly real, it is a soft "sweet nothing" love that feels like a soft place to land on all sides. There is one blonde man who deserves rights and it is Bo. I could go one about how much I love these two forever, and I just might but know that the care that comes with own voice authors just hits different and the story is no different here. This is by and far Hannah's best work and I say that as her biggest fan. It is such an honor to be able to read an early copy of this book and watch it take shape, I will love it forever probably? Easily one of my top ten reads of the year, no question.

Samantha Irby is one of my grocery list authors, meaning I will read anything she writes up to and including her grocery lists. Quietly Hostile uses dark humor with a precision I am sure practiced surgeons envy. If you were my friend I would be buying you this for any occasion.
