Gender/Fucking: the Pleasures and Politics of Living in a Gendered Body by Florence Ashley
4.5
Like nothing I've read before in it's scope, it's style, and it's ability to make me think.

Was so ready to dismiss this book as I had to read it for a class and didn't have any teal knowledge of its story. Never been so glad to be wrong
Dune Messiah by Frank Herbert

An interesting sequel. In many ways, it elaborates effectively on some of the themes and concepts of the first one and makes the actions of its central characters easier to understand. The addition of a wider cast of characters that test the protagonist’s ability to discern what’s going on was a great idea and gave this story some new and interesting stakes. The only part I didn’t enjoy reading was the forward.

Definitely see how it became a classic of the genre. The ideas and themes are intriguing and the universe of the book felt consistent and well thought out. For anyone trying to get into the story, don’t worry about spoilers or even seeing the movies first! There’s a lot of the story that makes more sense if you see/know about it before you get to it in the book.
Tauhou by Kōtuku Titihuia Nuttall

A truly unique book! The different stories come together nicely by the end but the author did a great job of letting each story and piece stand out by itself. I think you could reread this book several times over and come away with new things to appreciate each time.

I could read this collection over and over again endlessly. If you’re not sure about it though, skip ahead to the piece about Robbin Williams.
