Interesting concept… I guess?? But it just didn’t grab me, not the characters, not the story. Tough one…

After a slow start, Dellaira's book builds to moments, which is the easiest way to describe how each of the letters that Laurel writes to dead celebrities manages to unfold the pieces of her life, her past and the on going turmoil that she can't share about her sister's death. Yes, there are times when you're tempted to backhand Laurel for her unreasonable obsession with a boy that doesn't seem as invested in her as she is in him, but...teenagers, and they're all teenagers and all trying to find their path. Dellaira's style is easy and flowing. She makes the characters flawed and believable. A solid 3 1/2, as Goodreads doesn't allow half stars in their rating system.

I honestly have to say, I was disappointed in this book. I found Laurel to be immature and actually very annoying. The format of this book was also not for me

I liked the idea of this book but ultimately, I don't think it quite delivered. It got better towards the end but I really struggled with the writing style used for the narrator. At times it felt like I was reading the diary of an 11 or 12 year old (a bit too childlike) and then out of nowhere a grown-up thought or an out-of-place philosophizing sentence would appear and completely pull me back out of the story again. It felt quite choppy in that sense.
I don't think I liked all the information about the dead people she was writing to as well. Some of it worked, and I appreciated it when that happened. It made sense. Other times though it felt like I was reading a "Fact File" on the back of celebrity Top Trumps cards or something.
I enjoyed it more towards the end of the book but this was a bit of a miss for me.

This took me a while to finish it but it is good. It makes me sad and feel other things. I learned a lot from this
Sometimes what we need is something to express what we really feel. I feel so proud of you Laurel for being strong *hugs to you*.

This book reminded me so mush of Perks of being a wallflower but yet it was so mush on its own. This book had soo many different feelings and was just plain enjoyable.

I liked the way the author had the character grow throughout the book and that they showed that grief can change and person in many ways, but it can also set them free.
