*Happy sigh* I had been saving Rafe for awhile because Rebekah Weatherspoon is one of those author's I can count on for an excellent read and this was no exception. I love that this Loose Ends series is going to feature characters that appeared in previous books, which is brilliant because it just makes me want to go back and re-read all the other books.
Sloane and Rafeal...and the twins, Avery and Addison...I have nothing but heart eyes for these darlings.

This book was such a delight! I couldn’t stop smiling reading this. Rafe was a nanny turned step daddy and I was here for every second of it! He loved Slone’s twins so much.
I loved that this book has a Black FMC who didn’t stay away from her career and made decisions based on her life and her babies. Sloane was an amazing doctor. I wanted to fight her ex so bad! But I’m glad out of a terrible situation with one nanny, came the opportunity to meet Rafe. Their chemistry was instant and I loved how they thought about the kids wellbeing, so many times adults don’t and the kids end up hurt.
Can’t wait to read more of Rebekah’s work!

This book was good, but not my favorite.
First, oh I need a Rafe badly… can he be my babysitter?? To top that off a successful black woman who’s also a young doctor, bravo!! My downfall wasn’t with the story, but the narrator. I had to stop listening and read the book because I couldn’t stand the female narrator. The voice she had for other characters was annoying. Anyways, this book was great!! I loved Rafe and Sloan

Two weeks. This entire story took place in a span of two weeks.
Review to come.

Re-Read 12.5.2021 I bumped the rating to 5 stars (previously 4 stars). I haven't stopped thinking about this book since I first read it. Every now and then I would re-visit parts of the book and I finally read the book all over again.
I loved it. LOVED IT. LOVED IT. LOVED IT. Initial read I was left at how the hell could so much happen in two weeks? Is it possible, yes. It's just rare. I still love this book much more than the sequel (Xeni and Mason). All aspects of this book were really done well. The character development was really done well. The attraction and connection was done well. At first you think it's one sided and you quickly realize that it is not. The no nonsense communication that happens in this book is so refreshing. Shit was resolved uber quick and I LOVED THAT FOR ME. It irritates me when adults don't know how to communicate. I understood Sloane's apprehension, not knowing how to act or do the things one does when they are feeling someone new after only having one experience to reference back to; so darn long ago at that. I'm glad the hot and cold lasted a few days because that could have driven me mad if it lasted longer and I'm glad it was like hold up, we are about to handle this real quick.
This was such a great read. I'm glad I decided to read it again.

A quick, sexy and enjoyable read. What I liked most about this book is the excellent communication between Rafe and Sloan; they were clearly attracted to each other from the very beginning and chose to confront this by having a conversation before acting on their impulses instead of dancing around it and pining for each other before eventually giving in. I've read too many stories that do the latter and it's become tiresome, so it was refreshing to read about a couple who employed a more direct approach. Both of these main characters are great between Rafe bucking against toxic masculinity and traditional gender roles as well as Sloan being both a brilliant surgeon and loving mother. Rounding out the secondary cast are Sloan's adorable twin daughters and her highly entertaining group of friends. There could have been more conflict along the way for this romance as everything feels a little too easy, but I didn't mind their journey being fairly straightforward for a change of pace. I'd love to read Xeni's story, as the closing provides a tantalizing glimpse at what is sure to be a wild tale.

Listening to this on audio helped me breeze through it under 24 hours but it also had me listening to a narrator attempting a deep masculine voice that resulted in removing all personality and vocal expression from the male love interest. The monotone quality of the character's voice was more pronounced in scenes with female characters - an unfortunate circumstance that can occur when you have a female narrator.
All in all, it was a cute read.
