This was one of the best books I have ever read! I was encouraged and convicted both at the same time. I definitely will re-read it! Full review to come on my blog this week: http://glorifychristblog.wordpress.com/.

Indifference is everywhere in society. When people see things that are wrong with the world, we usually think "I'm just one person, what can I do?" Or if we see something in our own lives we don't like we say we'll change it "later", and then we move on with our lives and things stay the exact same. This book challenges the reader to break away from that thinking, "If you don't want your life 10 years from now to look identical to today, then-- guess what?-- you have to start changing it... today."
This book is easy to read because Sara has a conversational way of writing, but what she challenges the reader to do is not always that easy. But it is still possible, and it will be worth it. "That's what following Jesus is all about. It's not a thirteen-step process to become a 'great Christian teen.' It's reawakening a dying love in our hearts and learning to live for Christ... or die for Christ. With no reserves, no retreats, and no regrets."
One thing I really liked about the book is how Sara told a lot of stories about different people and how they decided to serve God. It was very inspiring, and whether you are a new Christian who hasn't heard any of this, or someone who has been following Christ for a long time, or somewher in between, this book will light a flame in your heart or add fuel to the one already there. Let's start a love riot!
Note: I was given a courtesy copy by the publisher.

How passionate are you in your spiritual journey with Christ? That's exactly the challenge author Sara Barratt is throwing down, and she's speaking directly to teens. In this world that is confusing and conflicting, Sara speaks to an age bracket so often overlooked and underestimated. Through life experiences of those who have impacted her directly and her own personal experiences, Sara shares practical tips and applications for living a life of faith in a season of life that can be fraught with drama and peer pressure. And truth be told, this book will challenge not just young believers but seasoned believers as well. Definitely worth the read!

Wow! This book from Sara Barratt about how to truly love Jesus is a game changer. It's directed to teens, but anyone can benefit from reading Love Riot. I am a 55 year old grandmother and I have learned a lot. I always felt like I'm not sure I know how to truly love God (and Jesus), and then a 19 year old writes a book and shows me how!
One of the things I've taken away from this book is the meaning of 1 Corinthians 13, the love chapter. Love is described as an action word, not a feeling. Love is patient and kind. Love does not envy. It does not boast, etc. None of the descriptions of Love in this chapter involve feelings. They are all action words. That was mind blowing for me. Sara also shows us how to truly love God, and it's so simple I am kicking myself for not realizing it much sooner. I was raised in a legalistic church, which was all about what you do and don't do, and relationship with God was not really taught. I wish I had had a book like this when I was a teen.
Sara, a teen herself, reaches out to other teens and gives them advice, that, if they take it, will guide them into a loving relationship with God early in life.
No matter what our age, if you want to learn to truly love Jesus, you will love this book. If you are a parent or grandparent of a teen, this could be a great gift for your teen.
I received a free copy of this book from the publishers and Netgalley. My review is voluntary.

At first glance, I thought, “Wow. Another Christian book for teens… ” Then I actually read Love Riot. It convicted, encouraged, and motivated me to pursue Christ with reckless abandon. This book is rooted in Biblical truth and rich in practical applications.
One of the things I love about this book is that it doesn’t talk down to you. Instead, it talks with you. Sara Barratt writes as a friend. She doesn’t make it seem like she has it all together. She passionately shares her struggles, hopes, and dreams for the future. You’ll never feel like you’re at a lecture, but rather at a Sunday afternoon coffee chat with a good friend.
I highly recommend this to the teen or even adult struggling with their faith. You won’t regret reading it!

I started reading it alone but as I went through the chapters I began to realize this book is something my teenage boys NEEDED to hear. My boys are 13 and 14. While we read Scripture daily together and have open conversations about sin, the struggles we have and God’s grace, this book, written by a 19-year-old, filled in the gaps where my perspective lacks as a parent.
@sarabarrattauthor has written a book that is really a battle cry to Christian teens to lay down the things of this world and replace it with a passionate and radical love for Christ. She acknowledges the temptations and resistance teens face today and digs into Scripture, pointing out God’s will for our lives and His love and grace as we walk through this sometimes messy journey.
While this book is written for teens by a teen, I could relate to everything she wrote and felt seen and heard as well. This book will ignite a fire of passion and love for Christ and I am moved by the thought of our world being handed to a youth with this kind of fire burning inside them

Love Riot is a relevant and thought provoking read that will appeal to teens as it deals with questions they have likely asked themselves. What makes the book even more interesting and appealing is Sara Barratt has clearly asked these questions herself and then at the age of 19 put them all together in a thoughtful and coherent way to help others.
