Welcome to Cold Hill House… You will never leave… there is no escape.

I read the first book during my vacation, sadly my vacation library didn’t have the first book in their collection so it was waiting to get home. And then waiting until I could find time to read the book when I finally had the book from the library here.

I had big hopes for this haunted house story. In general, I liked it.. there were few things that got my eyes rolling hehehe but apart from that it was ok. Can’t say I felt scared or anxious, this book didn’t evoke any strong feelings or emotions. I think I’d like it better if it was more of The Others vibes, which I thought was direction it was going in. Slightly disappointed that it didn’t but overall a good ghost story. Will I be reading book 2? Probably not but at the same time I’m not upset about reading this one :)

Had promise, but it was boring and the dialogue was abysmal. Also left me with tonnes of unanswered questions and not a very satisfying ending.

A reszta - dość przewidywalna, momentami niepokojąca, zakończeniem nadrabia mocno przeciętną całość. Tak czy siak, zachwytów nad książką nie rozumiem :)

I enjoyed this and I'm going to be reading this author again, it's a spooky ghost story which managed to grip me drawing me into the narrative fairly quickly. The first chapter is an absolute belter and after that explosive introduction, I raced through this in a single day.

I was previously in a bit of a funk, my usual go-to romances just weren't doing it for me, so I decided to completely switch gears and delve into my never-ending, sky-high, physical TBR shelf and noticed I'd collected a fair few psychological thrillers and creepy books. I think i picked this one up from the works and it was cheap as chips. I also have the sequel focusing on the same house so guess what I'm going to be reading next.

This story focuses on a creepy old house, Cold Hill House, and it has a macabre history attached to it. When Ollie and Caro along with their daughter Jade take on this huge Georgian fixer-upper they have no idea of just what this will entail or the tragic history attached to their new dream home.  What should have been the start of something special swiftly descends into fear and panic as it swiftly becomes clear they are not alone and as things begin to snowball towards that ultimate climax. I was on the edge of my seat as the ball of dread in my stomach only increased with each ensuing chapter.

This was truly creepy, incredibly spooky and I totally feared for this family. This was written in such a way that I couldn't help but become invested in Ollie, Caro and Jade's lives. What a story and what a ride this was. This was well written and had all of the family's POV's so you did feel a big part of what was unfolding. It wasn't especially scary, I'd say it was more spooky and unsettling, but boy did it leave an impression on me and that finish was chefs kiss.
