Such a good book, sweet, simple and leaving you feeling great about the world.

Not sure why this is so “endearing”.. All the “dear uncle” moments gave me the creeps. It’s not the best “children’s fiction”.

I probably didn't read this in the right time because although it was entertaining and sweet, sometimes it felt too boring.
I think I was not really in the mood for a children's book yet.

Sent to live with her 6 aunts and 7 male cousins after the deaths of her parents, Rose is very overwhelmed. Going from an all girl's boarding school to a lot of family and noise, and now Uncle Alec is making her wear drab, sensible dresses and eat healthy food like oatmeal? How will Rose ever get used to all of this?

It took me a while to get through due to school, but I loved every page of this book! The first few chapters were kinda slow, but as Rose developed more character, it became way more enjoyable. Overall just a very sweet story of growth and finding oneself.

This and Little Women are the two best Alcott books. They both have somewhat disappointing sequels. One thing I loved about these books was that they were so clearly written by someone in a different time, who saw the world differently. yet it seemed that if she were to appear in our time, she would be very likeable and interesting.

Plus, I had a crush on those seven boys!

I read these books as a small child at my Grandmother McGregor's house and I devoured them, I adored them so much. Now, as an adult, looking at Alcott's nuances and politics, through an adult's eyes, I love them even more. Highly recommended literature if you're looking for something sweet and innocent to read. :)
