Her best book yet! I haven't enjoyed a book as much as I enjoyed this one in ages! I can't stop thinking about it and felt so good after reading it! I NEED MORE!!

The Outlaw Demon Wails was my favorite book in this series, but I must have deleted my review previously since it wasn't received well.

This book is the pinnacle in the series for character development and plot progression. The characters are maturing, and new details are revealed. This book isn't completely dialogue based as a few of the newer ones have been, and nothing is stale. I could probably read about these characters doing just about anything, but my preference would be that the future books take after this one with a heavy dose of plot progression and character development. Best in the series.

Finally Rachel grows up and starts acting like a responsible adult.

Meh. Rachel should have died several times over, keeps finding new powers, keeps doing dumb things.

This was probably better than the last one I read, but it appears that the world-building is done, and that was the only interesting thing about this series.

I had very mixed feelings about this book. On one hand, I thought sections of the book were pretty epic. Finding out about Rachel's real father was HUGE surprise, and a twist I really enjoyed. I liked her mother and Marshall so I'm glad they got larger parts in this book than they had before. I like that Rachel and Ivy got their relationship mostly figured out too, that story line was getting tiring. I can never decide whether or not I like Trent. I think I want to like him, but can't quite. The reason this book gets 4 stars instead of 5 is the ending. I was super disappointed that after everything was tied up mostly neatly, Rachel ran off all on her own to bargain with the demon Al again. The book when from being epic and interesting to the same old story--Rachel goes off and does something stupid on her own. I was finally starting to like Rachel and really get on her side, right up until the end. Then she just got on my nerves again. Lucky this series has such a great supporting cast. I was also kinda bummed that Harrison left a loose end with Marshall at the end. We'll see what happens with that.

Started with the audiobook but scrapped that quickly when I discovered that Marguerite Gavin, reader of the previous books, had been replaced. Not being able to take a different voice for the characters, I read this one in print. Thank goodness Marguerite returns to reading the remainder of the series!

Okay, honestly I ended up liking this a lot more than I was expecting, mainly because of the last 33%, but I had to take a star off because this is the only book not narrated by Marguerite Gavin and it really showed. The narrator used for this book made Jenks sound like a little kid, Rachel was a lot whinier than usual, Piscary's name was butchered, and the other voices just didn't work for me. There was a new character introduced, Bis, the gargoyle, who sounds like he might end up being interesting, but the voice was just a bit odd. I'm hoping Bis shows up in future books and I'm really curious how Gavin will voice it. It's got to be better than this!

This was a slower start as the main goal is to get Rachel and Kalamack into the Ever After so he can get genetic samples of elves for before the turn and she can get samples of Al. We learn so much more about the past and how it connects with what's going on now and yeah, I was blown away. There are a ton of plot threads and Harrison does a great job of weaving them together and developing them just enough in each book. Rachel and her team are mourning and the author takes the time to address their pain, but at the same time, things are still going on and she does that well. I still think Rachel is not the brightest bulb, but she does make up for it with her tenacity and heart. I haven't read the rest of the books yet, but I suspect this book will act as a major turning point in the overall plot.

I'm looking forward to continuing with this series!

Another good "escape" read. Enjoying the character progress and developments that occur.

The formula may be getting old. Rachel never can get her ducks in a row and it keeps getting worse. I like the demon Al.
