Livre interessant, histoire intriguante mais la fin donne une legere impression baclée.

This book had me hooked at first with the sort of dreamy magical quality to the events and the nightmarish bureaucracy that the main character found himself trapped in. But in the end he wound up really annoying me with his self-absorption and I didn't really "get" the ending.

Cool idea, seems like it would've been plenty for a short story instead of a short book. After the first few chapters, I was bored of nothing happening or progressing. Other reviews credited the author for maintaining a tense atmosphere throughout, but for me it just had the surreal quality of a bad dream, so I didn't care what happened.

“‘Have you noticed, Monsieur Herman, you can’t even see the hills anymore! By the eight or ninth of September the horizon disappears, everything’s gray; this is nowhere, we’re in the very middle of nowhere!’”

Weird, strange, surreal, and nightmarish are all words that one could use to describe this book. It was originally written in French and translated to English. The book was first published in 1994, and the lack of modern technology gives this book a timeless feel akin to the classic mystery and horror novels. It isn’t a long book, but do not mistake it for a quick read. The prose is beautiful and perfectly clear, but the story being told is murky at best and will leave you wondering what really just went down. Don’t be looking for a happy ending in this read, and to be honest, don’t look for much of an ending at all…

A somewhat bizarre journey. I enjoyed it, but not sure how to describe what I just read.

This was thoroughly weird and unsettling, and the ending left me so "...?!" but it was enjoyable.
