Such good fun on a day when I was feeling especially bloodthirsty.

3.5 This was like a five star read for me for so long, it was so intriguing and interesting and making me guess and kind of freaking me out but then the last 100 pages and the reveal went slightly downhill.

Better than 'The Only Child'. Kind of like a horror version of 'Lost'.

  • Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

I just did not get into the writing style, I felt like it tried to be too theatrical with the extremely short chapters and a cliffhanger at the end of every chapter.

Sad, because the story did sound like something I would enjoy but I didn't.
Maybe it was also because there were too many characters for me.

2.5 stars.

I have a bit to say about this book and frankly it's not all positive.

To start, I am not a big fan of open endings and leaving things unsaid, which means I was disappointed by the last chapter and the lack of "closure" we get concerning Aaron's character. I really liked him but I just don't enjoy not knowing who he is when we got the others' informations. I also don't really agree with the ending for Bridge it felt rushed and nonsensical to me.

Character wise I didn't hate them, however despite the information we get at the start and near the ending, the pretty fast pacing of the book made it rather hard to really have a sort of connection with them. I liked them the same way I'd like someone I met once and would never see again.

The reveal of who the characters were felt rushed and just thrown into the lot which left it underwhelming.

In terms of plot and writing I don't have much to say, I enjoyed the both of them and while I did expect something strange might've happened to the family I didn't imagine it to be what they went through which was great, cliché in the way of it all but great.

All in all while I don't particularly love this book with all my heart I still enjoyed it and would recommend it for short and easy read!

My first time reading Andrew Pyper. Enjoyed this a great deal, the story structure, the characters, how he plays with expectations and the well timed reveals. Really looking forward to picking up some more of his novels.

the ending of this book, the last four words....mr pyper really fucking knows how to stick the landing and be graceful as poetry itself. the story itself is shaped as mystery/horror kinda schtick and i appreciate and love him for doing so but if you read the reviews on the back of the book, they’ll mention sci-go and boy....i’m no fan of sci-fi it’s equal parts far flung and equal parts as possible as the next horizon but shit the book slapped so damn hard i’m actually upset i had to put it down as is the case with most of andrew pyper’s books. thank you for this i appreciated reading every word of this novel.
