It is hard to say for what kind of audience book aims for. If you don’t know Red Dwarf, check the TV series. It is much much better. If you know TV series you will be bored a little. Lot of jokes are just taken from TV and it is based on goofy actors mainly. This book is interesting in parts which deviate from series. So a beginning and an ending. Especially the ending changes the tone of whole book and leave me wanting to read more.

Excellent book! Highly recommended to Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy fans, as it has the same great combination of sci-fi comedy. This particular book recounts the story of how Dave Lister got lost 3 million years into the future and into deep space. The intro is completely new, and great to see the background of where Dave came from, and then meat of the book follows the first episodes of series one, with the same dialogue.

Nostalgics will find it great to relive the excellent classic BBC show with extra inner dialogues of characters, and newcomers will find the entire story interesting and refreshing in its absurdity. The end of the book is also a new "episode" so to speak.

It's absolutely hilarious - I had genuine laugh-out-loud moments and look forward to others in the series!

I will admit I am an avid fan of the show and have watched it all prior to reading. That sways my rating quite a bit.

But it was the Boys of the Dwarf that kept me coming back. This book helped me break a many-year-long reading slump and genuinely inspired me to want to pick the book back up and see what happened next.

My only regret is not buying all of the books when I had the chance and having to really shop for the next few in the series - they're getting harder and harder to find! (Special-edition or hardback opportunity much?)

If you're unfamiliar with the show and its incredibly on-point casting choices, I highly recommend it. The best part is the show and the book complement each other beautifully. I was not disappointed!

I love when you find books at the right time and place in your life so they hit the sweet spot. Maybe this isnt the best written book ever but it spoke to me in my language and after all the science fiction I attempted to read this year I appreciate this one the most

Right time and place being the bit about beans on toast. I never realise how much I need Heinz Beans until I cant buy it every day
