Uh, this book was alright. Took me a while to get into the story. Mostly because I was expecting a good romance between the main character and her love interest and they didn't even officially meet each other untill like 50 percent through this read. And said meeting was mediocre. Nevertheless, I did come to like and enjoy the stories from people that came with this short read.

This was just not for me. She goes around talking to a girl she hasn't seen in years airing all her trauma. I don't understand why anyone would do that. Not to mention the fact that there was zero romance so far. Just had to put it down, there's better books.

3.5 stars - I liked it; not too heavy, not too trite. Not super lengthy, it's a great break in between high suspense and/or heartbreaking reads

I thoroughly enjoyed this book (which is why I gave it a 4 out of 5), it was a lovely read with an easily flowing story. However, I feel there were far too many unanswered questions....

What did Charlotte do to get fired and blacklisted?
Why did her mother hate the town so much?
Did she get all of her memories back?
Did she and her father mend their relationship?

I was disappointed that there wasn't a big moment where something happened that allowed all of Charlotte's memories to come flooding back. The story sort of just tapered off, and everything was left "all good" in the end. I guess I was just wanting more depth go finish off the book to go along with the great story.

Team Henry ALL the way!
Listen, this book was cheesy beyond Hallmark movie cheesy. Yeah, I said it. Some stuff felt rushed and there was a lot basic dialogue that felt like it was written just for silly entertainment, lines repeated over and over. There was even a main part of storyline that didnt even make sense to me even after it's "explained" BUT I was really a fan of Henry so I had to keep reading. 5 star book? No, but entertaining, light, mindless read? Sure!

At the end of my review of Nina Bocci’s first novel in the Hopeless Romantics series, On the Corner of Love and Hate (see my review here), I said: “I am anxious to read the next novel in the series, especially if it includes sweet, sensitive Henry.” My wish was granted! The “hero” in Meet Me on Love Lane is Henry. Unfortunately, Henry didn’t get the kind of story I was hoping for him.

Have you ever finished a book and just kinda felt... nothing? This book was neither bad, nor great. It was simply a good book with unmet potential and a lot of cliches. That last one is not necessarily a bad thing!
I’m a sucker for a good second chance romance and Charlotte’s story seemed right up my alley. Charlotte has just lost her job in New York City and is left feeling a little lost. She makes the rash decision to return to her childhood hometown for the summer, unannounced. After her parents divorced when she was 10, Charlotte's mother fed her lies, convincing her that life with her father in that town was awful. She took that to heart and hasn’t returned in twenty years. Now she’s here and about to make quite the entrance. The only problem is the bustling town with the manicured lawns and cute store fronts was not the same Hope Lake she remembers. She also can’t remember her old best friend, Henry, but Henry never forgot her.
Before she even goes to sleep that first day we meet one teacher, one cop, one old best friend, one father/doctor, one hot doctor and a grandma. And there were more to come. It was just kind of a lot and because there were so many characters, I don’t feel like we ever really got to connect with any of them. I do think it’s fair to point out this is the second book in a series. This is advertised as being able to be read as a standalone but I think you end up pretty lost without the context I’m sure the first book provided!
Maybe I’ve just read too many great romance novels lately and become overly picky, but I just did not connect with this one the way I had hoped. It was a great light and fluffy read, perfect for those days you just want to read with no expectations!
