Romance? I beg to differ. Not sure if the book one was a precedent to this one but it basically kicked off with no preamble of the characters getting to know eachother before down ... and next thing he was ordering her about and buying her clothes. I thought she was meant to be a professional woman. DNF 20%. Not for me

The second book of the series follows Elizabeth (Liz) and Gavin post Liz's firing by Gavin's brother Mick and her kissing Gavin. Liz is also Gavin's agent and has been in love with him for years, but plays ruthless in the male-dominated sports world.
During preseason, Gavin is reeling from the kiss and decides to ask Liz to stay with him at his home. They start a friends with benefits type relationship. They start the develop into more a relationship as they start talking about things outside of work. The problem? Liz is scared to share her feelings, Gavin is unsure if he's ready for something serious, and Mick is still holding a grudge and is protective of his brother.
Great story about redemption and being able to open yourself up to love and happiness. Reading the first book in the series, I knew it was going to be a good mix of plot and spice.

This was another nice read. I liked it a bit more than the first one, but it wasn't quite enough to be a 4-star story for me. Gavin and Liz are really good together and very steamy. The love scenes are top notch. But the rest of the story is just kind of meh. The main conflict between the characters is just whether or not they want to be in a "real" relationship, which was the same main conflict for the characters in the first book. The woman is in love with the man but afraid to tell him, so she thinks it's better to just break it off since she assumes he doesn't love her. Not that exciting, but overall still worth a read. Although the ending may be one of the cheesiest I've ever read.
The thing that drove me crazy though is that Liz seemed to have a complete personality transplant between the first book and this one. Why use her as the heroine if you didn't like the original version of her? I've seen that happen in a few series, and I don't understand why the author doesn't just write a whole new character instead. It doesn't ruin the story for me, but it is annoying.
And lastly, can I just say that this series has like the yummiest covers ever? Love them!

I read the physical book many years ago 2013 or before.
I listened to the audiobook borrowed via Libby and the narrator did a good job.

A decent plot with likeable characters. I felt like the author told more than she showed, which made the reading less engaging, but it was still a good read.

Liz got my bad side after what happened in The Perfect Play so I couldn't really get around to liking the whole story until I got over it. It took a little time (and with another read of it) I ended up really liking it.
Of course, Gavin really helped. What a hot tamale!
