I love this series it's funny, erotic, and sometimes sad but mainly funny the way the family is and the way the main characters are to each other at times is quite comical but Marguerite is hilarious I just love herr, this is a series I would recommend to anyone cause they are just greats read, and I'm only on the second one.

DNF at pg. 108.

maybe mid-00s vampire romances just aren't for me, no matter how much i want to re-live my  twilight glory days. the writing style is clunky and the dialogue is stilted. rachel accidentally says her thoughts aloud like 4 times by page 100. and, they suck blood through their teeth like straws ...

a couple gems for the road:

"Rachel didn't appear to be taking this very well. She'd rather resembled a scared rabbit fleeing to its hole, a reaction from her that he hadn't expected. Redheads were usually feisty. Of course, she wasn't sobbing hysterically or anything annoying like that."

"Now he found himself gaping at her in a pair of tight, faded jeans and a T-shirt that barely reached her midriff. Her hair was pulled back into a ponytail and and her face was makeup free. Altogether, she looked about eighteen. A very sexy eighteen."

rue Love: Good From The First Bite...
Etienne Argeneau's three hundred years of bachelorhood were at an end. Either that, or he'd be forever alone. He could only "turn" one human in his lifetime, and most of his kind reserved that power for creating a life mate. If he turned the wrong woman...But what choice did he have? He had to save Rachel Garrett. He didn't know her very well but the beautiful coroner had saved his life. To save hers he would make her immortal.

Pretty good start for the series..Skipped the first one cause the narrator was horrible!

Enjoyed

Enjoyed Etienne and Rachel's story. They are definitely made for each other. Her feistiness will keep him on his toes.

I still really love this world, but this has to be my least favourite of the ones I've read. Pretty much all of that is due to Etienne, who acts like a teenager with no regard for or comprehension of anyone's feelings (not even his own). I'm really not a fan of how his manipulative tactics of keeping Rachel close - using her ignorance of this world he's thrown her into to feed her false information and basically imprison her without any bars needed - isn't dealt with or acknowledged as the awful thing to do it is at all.

Rachel was a delight, though, from her initial insistence on how everything had to be a dream to her revelling in her newfound abilities. And seeing other, more beloved characters around kept this from falling below a three.
