The Pumpkin Plan: A Simple Strategy to Grow a Remarkable Business in Any Field by Mike Michalowicz

I think this book is best geared towards people in business who have been working so hard for so long but not seeing much return. I am just starting out with my own business so there wasn't a lot that directly applied to me, but Mike's down-to-earth, truly modern and fresh way of writing really pulled me through the whole book with ease and interest despite this, and I learned a lot about how not to run my business and how to set myself up for success by implementing some of Mike's ideas early on.
This book is based on a piece of advice that the author's business mentor gave to him when he said: "You're not an entrepreneur yet, Mike. Entrepreneurs don't do most of the work. Entrepreneurs identify problems, discover the opportunities and then build processes to allow other people or other things to do the work and to do it right, consistently." Mike Michalowicz explains how to do just that by using the metaphor of growing a pumpkin which is actually pretty genius as you'll see if you read this.

Who wants to know how to grow pumpkins? The answer is a handful of people, but that’s not really what The Pumpkin Plan is about. It’s about an approach to your business that follows the pattern of the $500-per-seed great pumpkin growers. The book was a recommendation from an entrepreneurial friend who thought the fundamental premises were interesting. I found the process to be problematic. Normally, I’d not post a review like this one. I want you to know what books are good and add value to your world. I avoid criticizing them, because that’s not valuable to you or me – but this is different.

Read this is one sitting tonight, loved so many points in this book. I read a library copy but I’m headed out to buy my own copy tomorrow. Worth the read if you’re an entrepreneur trying to learn growth strategies!

Is he passing off universally accepted concepts as his own or just trying to put a bro spin on them. Not my jam.

Listened to this one with my husband when on the road. Not my typical read but interesting enough!
