Easy read, interesting ideas. I’m not sure how to apply it to dentistry, but gives me something to think about. Definitely recommend for entrepreneurs and other business owners!

There is some fantastic business advice in this book about growing a business much in the same way a farmer would grow a prize winning pumpkin, you prune the weak spots and nourish the most profitable aspects of your business. Worthwhile read for any entrepreneur.

Michalowicz narrated the entire audio himself, voices and all, and it was great, audio-wise. He was passionate and involved, mimicking people he interviewed and using inflection well.
The book itself was an interesting concept to begin with; an entire book based on a metaphor? Somehow, Michalowicz made it work. He took the concept of growing prize-winning pumpkins, and made it into a business growth strategy.
Although I liked how he thoroughly explained how The Pumpkin Plan could be implemented in any field, it also seemed like the book could have been much shorter if he didn't repeat the same things in different ways for different fields of business.
With that being said, the flip side of that coin is that if he hadn't explained it so thoroughly, I would probably be bummed if my industry wasn't included ... so others would probably be as well. Also, the explanation said in different ways (even though for a different industry each time) could also potentially help people like me understand the plan better.
Regardless, the pumpkin plan seems like a very applicable concept, worth considering at the very least. I would recommend it to entrepreneurs in any field (as stated), who want to grow their business beyond themselves but are having trouble with the process.

Enjoyable and insightful read
I love the way Mike writes as it’s down to earth and enjoyable yet he shares some real gems that he then makes super easy to implement. I wish more entrepreneurs here in Silicon Valley would follow his lead and quit following the obsession with growth which so often leads to burnout and worse. Mike’s experience and advice has far greater longevity and makes for sanity!

Straightforward, honest and full of genius ideas. A lot of them are so simple you'll wonder why you haven't thought of them, but the beauty of that is that with some hard work, you can make them happen.
Michalowicz is clear that it won't be easy work, but he lays out in clear and easy to follow steps how to bring your business from the brink of extinction to raging success.
And he's funny too. You feel like you're sitting down and having coffee with a good friend.
I would recommend this book to any entrpreneur or aspiring entrepreneur.

There are plenty of books that are geared to a start-up's very beginning. But there are very few that address what to do when your new business hits the inevitable plateau which can suck your entrepreneurial enthusiasm dry. If, instead of a business, you've created a job to which you are enslaved as an owner, you will want to read this book. Mike Michalowicz outlines a simple and practical strategy with his trademark humor that will help you leverage your strengths, cull your client list into a leaner money-making asset, and most importantly, re-make your business into a fun and marketable entity.
