This seemed to me like it would be a book about books. I found it more along the lines of a book about people who worked in a bookshop, and I was a little disappointed. I wanted to know more about each person's list of books and what it meant to them. Their lists were supposedly so meaningful, but only vaguely referred to, as in "it reminded me of a book on my list," or "that line came directly from the third book on my list."
There are three characters who tell this story: Maddie, Claire, and Janet. Listening to the audio, I found it difficult to keep track of whose point of view I was listening to. There was an announcement with each change of perspective, but their individual voices did not stand out to me, either in the sound of the narrator, or the tone of the writing.
I did finish the book, and was much more invested in the last quarter than the any other part, but I wish it had offered more.

I really enjoyed this book and I fell in love with the three women it was written about.

that being said, it was interesting watching madeline transition from being a lawyer to running the bookshop. i feel like she had good character growth in that transition. i felt like the vandalism was a bit unnecessary and out of left field.

I love this book so much. I love intertwining themes of love and loss and grief and friendship and how all of those things can be shown in different ways. i took my time with this book but it was beautiful and fulfilling tied up gorgeously

I can't resist books set in bookshops, and it was a pleasant surprise that this was also set in a fictional Chicagoland area town. It's told from three different female perspectives of varying ages and stages in life, which was really nice.

Most of this book was very sweet but a lot of it felt preachy (which is my fault for checking out blind and not realizing it was christian fic). It was a cozy read and I did adore the strong female friendships, the book quotes and recs, and Madeline realizing her path may have been different than what she had originally thought and realizing that it didn't necessarily mean it was bad. Those are themes I will hold onto from this book.
