i think this is supposed to be hot but it just feels icky. it seems like she just graduated high school so it just sounds predatory really. 

my anxiety is through the roof. i don’t think i can handle this.

the mfc is not like other girls. also thieving being something passed by by blood s the most ridiculous thing i’ve ever heard. if it was fantasy sure. having powers that aide with that would make sense bt this is contemporary! how am i supposed to take that seriously.

the writing is to dramatic.. i think it was supposed to be emotional but i just met the mfc. 

you know i’ve been ignoring some delulu statements in this series for four books and i have to get off my chest. these ppl are not good ppl. i don’t care if they protect each other. i don’t care if they have some weird moral code. it’s acab over here on my end all day everyday but let’s not act like they are any better. they literally kill ppl over nothing. lose their shit over name calling. this book really tried convince me that hart was better in the mafia. lol how about idk work in security? go back to school? mechanics? comp sci? literally anything else! i felt the same about leo. it’s like can’t family members in the mafia have normal job? why must they all be killers?  

i am so anti pet names other than the usual babe love dear once in while. i am esp anti “queen”. it’s gag worthy! i can’t. it makes it so cheesy. i literally dnfed a fantasy series bec the guy bowed down to his “queen” the mfc whi was burning down a boat to free herself and couldn’t control it. apparently she had some powers of legends or prophecy. something like that. i found it cringey despite her actually being powerful. basically “queen” being said in contemporary romance makes me want to hurl.

okay so smut…i know in the previous book i said it was the authors style. it was to much. i think i’ve read erotica with less. the story basically went as follows someone tried to kill them then sex then shopping then sex then a date then sex then someone tried to follow them then sex then they buy her more stuff then sex and on and on. it’s been like this for all four books which is why this author will be on my don’t read list. i like the fact that everyone is together. i actually prefer every one being together over pure rh(basically mfc being only focus) but i can’t do sex over plot.. i want the sex scene to mean something. if it’s used too much then it has no use to the story. also the brother being in the same harem was gross. i skipped many sex scene but i couldn’t even do the brothers talking about it let alone the actual act of them being in an orgy together.

the main plot was doing too much and too little. the threat didn’t give threatening like r2r. hell the cliffhanger from the book before this was whatever. the perez brothers and micah seemed even less of mafia leaders than les and she was such a let down.

i don’t like evie. i don’t like les. i don’t like the little bit of bridget that i got. i love women friendships and when they are done well it makes my heart sing. all we got is women giggling about men. please…

 

over all i was entertained enough to finish which can’t be said for a lot of other books. i will not cont.

this was more enjoyable someways  bec evie is not a mafia leader that’s incompetent. less enjoyable in someways bec so many conversations happened not on page, micah and evanders issues were wrapped up too quickly and hartley had basically no page time. hopefully we get more of him in the next book.

the men were obsessed with evie and it’s like why? micahs attraction to evie came out of nowhere.

like since when was micah pining after her enough to get drunk and crawl into bed with her? i think we needed to get pov after he met her.

the only two ppl that their attraction to her made sense to me was mateo and hartley.

the pet names! omg the pet names! i hate them! all of them! 

anyway i’m going to finish this duet and stop. at this point it’s me. i know the authors writing style now so either i get out or shut up.

i am one of those ppl who thinks everyone has a little bi in them but the way all these guys just went with it was too fast in both books. them being bi makes sense bec imo sharing a girl is kinda bi. body parts are bound to touch during group activity and i find it hard to believe someone completely straight would be into that. at least contemporary rh it makes sense to go in mm route imo. fantasy/sci-fi can get away with it if it’s a mate thing or cultural norm.

as i said in the first book alessa is not a good mafia leader. just bec someone starts yelling doesn’t make them scary or a good leader. girl you are being attacked to almost death multiple times and your solution is go to the bad guys businesses and cause a ruckus????? that is the most disappointing part of this series. the men are also not the best mafia folk either. every time they get attacked she and them are like we are going get them. they never doooo anything other than have sex and have mental breakdowns. we are talking world wide renowned mafia and this is how they move? unbelievable!

why wasn’t checking their cars and home for bugs their first plan of action??? like come on!!!! they suspected it at zane’s home why not theirs???

as i said in the first book the smut was too much. they are easy to skip and not lose anything so it’s fine.

zane was added to harem too late. we needed more time with him. using trauma bonding and forcing the guys’ hand is a trope i hate. it is manipulative. i wish authors in general would find other ways to resolve issues between ppl.

the zane and ryder moment did not need les walking in on them imo. also the solution to every issue being sex is yawn boring! also all of sudden ryder can’t keep his shit together when he was doing fine? unbelievable!it’s like dex and ryder switched personalities. holden is also too young in experienced to be with zane. alessa was too young for zane at eighteen. especially since he was around since she was a kid. it’s so creepy for him to act as if he wasn’t taking advantage of her. all of them really. they stopped accusing him of being a weirdo the moment they fell for him

 

ppl walk into situations is over done in this series. like walking in on ppl kissing, having sex, having conversations or fighting. it was at least ten times! that’s too much.

the pet names… too many… too cheesy 

the main plot line was resolved too easily! all the that build up for that ending was v disappointing.

the positive is that everyone got along in this book for the most part and it was not dragged out. i just wish the i love yous were not dropping all of the place after a couple of days. another positive was this book shorter.

for the story we got this should’ve been a standalone. 

all in all i was entertained enough to finish. now on to evander and micah! low key wish their book wasn’t a rh with van and his brother in it since i hate brothers in the same harem. i’m just too curious to avoid it.

alessa is not a convincing mafia leader. i’m surprised with the way she acts that she hasn’t died yet. she literally has a stalker but wants to talk about how she’s can “take care” of herself. okay but if a group of ppl jump her bec she’s too stubborn to have guards?(which did happen!) like please it just made her seem so irrational. she’s supposed be calculated smart and i don’t see it.

the romance is not build up bec it happens before the book starts. all that was left is for me to be convince that these guys are okay with sharing and that didn’t happen. i think at some points alessa used her tears and emotional manipulation to get her way. hell her uncle threaten to KILL ryder?????? like can y’all calm down for a second instead peer pressuring this guy? it all get resolved so fast and then boom another guy and it’s i’m barely convinced with others. also putting them in life situation to resolve issue is a cheap out for authors imo. instead of conversation building relationships you get omg you almost died or omg you saved me and it’s boring.

the smut was too much! that time should’ve been relationship building imo. there was no pay off for the smut. almost each interaction was smut at some point. by the time she got to ryder i started skipping them. i skipped holdens first time, ryder and dex and so much more bec i was exhausted.

anyway it was entertaining when i started skipping i’ll give it that. also evander and micah???? oh i will be reading the next to get them. that’s saying something bec these books are LONG!

i actually hate jess… knife okay is no no for me esp in non fantasy bec supernatural creatures can at least heal themselves.

zed and her feels rushed. also the way the two mate guys talk to her is an ick. it’s either omg you are perfect or in so hard right now omg. basically the juvenile rushed nature of this series is why i’m dnfing.
