The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien

I read the majority of this book curled up in my armchair with a warm drink, which is exactly what Bilbo wanted to be doing the entire book. It was much funnier and more charming that I expected. Boy is it hard to wade through though, she is dense.

okay WHAT. gone girl meets a
promising young woman (sort of. in the way that i don’t think it’s quite as girlboss as we think it is upon first glance, in the way thatthe woman wins while also losing really hard . crazy twist. at first i was like… this is just poorly written, why are
people ranting and raving about this book? and then…. okay yeah i get it

yum yum yum delicious little mystery thriller tasty!! they just keep getting better and this is the first one that wasn’t a one off, it was a direct continuation of the fourth one AND they still haven’t caught the bad guy from the third one!! It’s so interesting to see the author’s queerness coming through Lucy’s story arc and I cant wait to dive in more. For mass market paperbacks available in every used book store ever these books slay.

I wasn’t as bonechillingly horrified as I expected to be reading this book, but I did get startled and jump once while reading it in a Starbucks
Leave No Trace by Mindy Mejia

I went back and forth with this book. Our intro was much too long and then when we finally got to the good part it whizzed by. For the most part, our protagonist was very unlikable, but maybe we don’t have to like every main character in order to gain something from their story. This was lent to me by my stepmom, who had a cabin in the woods in Ely that once belonged to her mom who struggled with mental illness, just like our protag, so I can see this hitting home with her, and I’m grateful she wanted me to read it too. Shoutout to Ely, MN, to the loons and the Boundary Waters and Gater’s Grilled Cheese Emporium, which are all part of this book and a big part of my family’s legacy as well.

Yo WHAT is James Patterson putting in his coffee????? this guy is a FREAK! hahaha he’s written 115 books (at the time of publication)??? How is this book even a little bit good? I DONT KNOW but this was kind of a banger. It’s not a good book in terms of writing or characters being likable/developing, but I was enthralled! Short lil chapters! Twists and turns abound and I barely saw any of them coming! WHAT? This was recommended to me by my dad, and my dad doesn’t really read, so I was like yeah i’m gonna read it and it SLAPPED! The last chapter was, however, the worst last chapter of a book I’ve ever read hahahaha also good job respecting pronouns at the end but like how weird was that lol
I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy

Jennette McCurdy is a great writer. All the hype around this book is correct!!!!!!
Also, I love the chapters being so short and vignette-y. New favorite book format ??
