Guilty pleasure read, I'm aware that these books aren't that good but I still really enjoy them. The last time i read this book (2019 I think?) I was in love with it, my previous thoughts are pretty much the same, just without as much "Oh my gosh I love this book" (I'm a bit more well-read now so I can see its flaws a bit better) this whole review has pretty mild spoilers, nothing that gives away major plot spoilers
- The story feels really choppy at times, sometimes the time skips work well (ex; Triss at Khar Moren time skip to winter) or it feels choppy (ex: Geralt dropping Ciri off at the temple, it would have done well to see the two say goodbye to each other.
- I hate how Triss is written, its really r/menwritingwomen type stuff
- On the contrary, I really like Yennefer, the problem I have with Triss is how obsessed with Geralt she is, however it feels different with Yennefer (probably because they are bound by the wish so it makes a bit more scene.
- My favorite sequence of the whole book was the ending part with Yennifer and Ciri, it feels pretty realistic and sweet.
- If it hasn't been made obvious yet I love Yennefer so much.
- I think these would be really good books to introduce someone who doesn't like reading books, they are easy to read and accessible
Oathbringer by Brandon Sanderson
4.5
My favorite one so far, I liked all the political stuff but Shallan and the veil/radiant thing got annoying fast.
also here are some notes I took, they aren't really in order and almost all of them have spoilers
Woah okay man, (some spoilers for oathbringer) Evi :(, her death was a little disappointing I REALLY wanted her to be evil like I saw spoilers before I read this on accident, and I think I misinterpreted it I thought Evi would do something and Dalinar would kill her tbh I really wish Evi had some more to her character other than "man Dalinar maby you shouldn't be killing people?"
I used to really like Shallan, I think I still do I just can't stand Veil its kind of funny though because it's like "okay here's Dalinar he was a bad guy but he is getting better" "Here is Kaladin he is finally getting happy after seeing him sad for two books" then there's Shallan "Yea this lady can't get a break she's going in a downwards spiral" I like Jasnah but she isn't good for her.
But I really like seeing reverse character development Shallan is just doing worse and worse like before Veil and Radient were temparary now they are almost separate people. veil was just used to get into the ghost bloods and radiant was just for that one time to train with Adolin
Dalinars flashbacks are also really well written, he sucked he almost killed his brother, he almost killed a kid, he burned a bunch of innocent people (he was betrayed but come on you don't kill innocent people who had nothing to do with it) still it's funny to think i can still like someone crappy as that, it is also cool thinking that we the readers are finding all this out the same time Dalinar is i wish we could see more of his reactions remembering (i really liked the part where he passed out small as it was) but I'm just getting REALLY sick of Veil.
ok now that wit talked with Shallan she is WAY more bearable, but every time she thinks about Veil I freak out because I REALLY don't want to read more about Veil. But I think the time in Shadesmar will be really good for her to take a leadership role and mature more
and i guess the notes stop there unless i can find some more

Dragons of Spring Dawning by Margaret Weis

This is going to be more of a review about this trilogy as a whole (excluding summer flame) I'm also just gonna put bullet points of things I liked because I am a bad reviewer.
Tasslehoff surprised me it is nice to see a comic relief character have a bit more to them
The second book was a slog but this one made up for it
I don't really like how Kitiara was written, I wish she was more of a "villain" we could feel sympathetic for, it was touched on a little bit but not as much as I would have liked.
I liked how there were not really any (main) characters I hated,
I like how Rastalin was written he was a bad guy but not really? mixed morality is hard to find in early-ish fantasy books like this

The first half of this book was a slog, I put it down for a while then forced myself to finish it.
The Eye of the World by Robert Jordan

I enjoyed this it was very cozy if I were to rate by my enjoyment I would give it a 4.75 but now that I am on the fourth book I realize that the great hunt was better.
The Princess Bride by William Goldman

Never watched the movie but really enjoyed this book. The only thing I didn't like was how the dad kept giving me anxiety "Hey guess what someone dies!" and nobody dies? I guess TECHNICALLY Westly died, but come on he came back. Also, Buttercup was kind of annoying except for her nightmare parts.
