Deceivious by Darcy Daniel
4.5
This was totally different read from one of Darcy Daniel's other book that I have read. I knew from the list of trigger warnings that it would be a lot darker however having the 3 POV's in the contents list I did wonder how they would all come together. The story centers around Rianna and how she is wanted by both of the male adults in her life and how she feels about them. The characters in this novel were very well down and without taking it to deeply you could imagine knowing someone who was each of them. The title of the novel gives you the plot line for the book and you can see how this applies to all of them. I did go to website to get the bonus epilogue and would implore everyone who reads this does get the epilogue.
The Dark Mountain by Yona Katz
4.0
I went into this without having read the first book and I think this put me at a slight disadvantage as I did not know either the back story to the characters or the history of the world. Saying this I think that I managed to pick up what I needed to from the first couple of chapters and did not realise that this had a LGBTQAI+ element with our main character being in a Gay relationship which was a pleasant surprise. I enjoyed reading about the characters and watching them grow throughout the story which is a credit to the author and it helped that there was a well rounded world for them to exist in. I will definitely be going back and reading book one and doing a re-read of this one so that I can read the final book in the trilogy.
The Company She Keeps by James Woolf
4.0
This took me up to 75 pages to get into this novel however once I got into it I couldn't put it down. I like how this had different timelines and storylines, which all accumulated into an explosive ending which tied everything together. It had me gripped once I got into it and I found the authors writing style easy to get one with. I loved the variety of characters and that they all linked to our main character Rebecca who is a strong individual character who is not easily swayed once she makes her mind up. I liked the fact that James Woolf choose a time in history which gripped the UK with everything relating to serial killers.
Star Pack by Dawn Napier
This was a twist on the werewolf story, in the fact that it is embraced in this society and we can see a blend of humanity and folk lore to make up the background for the species. The author has managed to successfully write a storyline which instead of this being a curse it is now being used as a blessing. I enjoyed the storyline in this novel however it was the characters which made it for me. They were very dynamic and adaptable to the changes in the plot. We watch as this community develops and then comes under attack. I would love to see more from this world and can not wait to see what comes from the author next.
The Physics of Relationships by Chas Halpern
4.0
This was a very interesting novel with a range of characters who were all different but all work well together. The three main characters have all got different personalities and outlooks on life that when they are all thrown together you wouldn't think that this would work but it does. The writing style made this so easy to read in the best possible way that i didnt want to stop reading and read this in two sittings. The author has managed to engage with different types of women at different times in their life which is sometimes hare to do. I can not wait to see what the author comes out with next.
Benidorm, actually by Jo Lyons, Jo Lyons
5.0
Jo Lyons does it again and knocks the slow burn romance out of the park. We follow Connie as she has been given the chance of a lifetime to sing in Benidorm for a week to cover for another act which is not able to perform. She arrives and finds out that she has been cast alongside a all girl tribute act who are there to perform but to also have a blast partying every night. Connie then meets her ideal man and through several bouts of miscommunication will they or wont they. This is a great cast of characters which a lot of them living double life's (which gets sprinkled through the story). Being a contemporary setting it was up about elevating this area and putting her twist on it. I can not wait to read the other 2 books.
Christmas at Polkerran Point: The most gorgeous festive Cornish romance this year by Cass Grafton
5.0
I love this world and this cast of characters which Cass Grafton has introduced me to and truly planted the love for a good romance in my wheelhouse. She creates characters who are real and that you could imagine being your friends that you meet for coffee. The world she has put them in is so well thought of and immersive that you need the two of the as only having one of the elements wouldn't work. I need more from Polkerran Point and Anna, Oliver, Matt, Gemma and all the others. I would and have done put Cass Grafton down as an auto-buy author and I never thought this would happen in the romance genre - Thank You Cass Grafton.
Her Best Friend's Husband: A brand new nail-biting domestic suspense full of twists by Alison Irving
4.0
This thriller threw me for a loop and I went down the totally wrong rabbit hole. I picked up the suspected plot line wrong and when I found out the twist it had me shocked but also cleared up why the reader had been given some of the back history. This to me is the best type of thriller as it had me thinking the wrong this the for 75% of the novel and when things started to come together it had me turning the pages to find out more. This novel has both dynamic characters and also a great story line and is definitely one that I will be suggesting to my thriller loving friends to read.
The Mystery in the Margins by L.L. Gray, L.L. Gray
5.0
This was a hug in a book. This was so good and addictive to read that once I had started it I didn't want to put it down - and yes I stayed up until the early hours of the morning to read it. L.L. Gray has a writing style which grabbed me and kept me turning the pages because I wanted to see what happened with our main character Harper. We follow her as she embarks on a quest to save her grandmothers bookshop and she finds something special along the way. There is a wide range of characters from all of your favourite fairytales and also a love interest .... you will have to read this to find out what happens. I can not wait until the next installment is out as this is a definite win for me.
Finally Find Freedom by Philip Wride
4.0
This was a very informative and interactive non-fiction which helps individuals identify their dreams and thing which can sometimes hold you back. Philip Wride has written this and then also provided additional resources which you can access and print off to be able to do further work (if wanted after completing the book. One thing I have notice is that the language he has used is layman's terms which means that it is not overly complicated and this makes the text more accessible for all. I read this book at the wrong time for me however I am going to revisit it in October before starting my University course which means that I will be able to use some of the tools which he has provided to readers.
