Short story about work enemies who find out they're very compatible in bed. It was decent, just felt a bit rushed and didn't have enough arc for me to fully care about the characters.

PopSugar 2024 reading challenge #11

Manga! Not a genre that I typically gravitate toward and so for me, this was a special treat. Thanks, of course, to a Secret Santa from a 2023 gift exchange right here on Goodreads.

A spy is given an assignment where he needs to get a kid into a school in order to reach his target. Oh, the spy doesn't have a kid. So he adopts one but then he needs a mother for her, right? Finds one. And this creates this really cute little weird family made up of a spy, assassin, and telepath. Kind of cute. The first installment is this 'family' meeting one another and trying to get the daughter into the school. It has action, humor, some cute elements, and a few serious moments. Overall, I really enjoyed it!

Book of the Month Club: February 2024
PopSugar 2019 reading challenge #47

Surprise, surprise, you're pregnant. And of course the father of the baby is a one-night-stand and you're probably not going to get into a 'serious' relationship with the guy (look he's not awful, but he's not the guy for you). Who is? Your best friend (who is your best friend's brother but look, we know he's your best friend, you can have more than one). So in the midst of this life change, are you going to realize what I realized as the reader about five seconds into this novel?

If you like friends to lovers, with the added bonus of a pregnancy, then this would be a book for you. I liked it. It was really enjoyable. It is predictable in all of the good ways. There are some spicy moments. All in all, it was a fun read. I can't complain even though I had the ending written within the first few pages. Sometimes predictability is what I desire.

Book of the Month Club: November 2023

Cute story in which a young woman, going through a break up, decides to 'wish away' her ex. Well, she then wakes up in a parallel reality where her best friend is no longer her best friend... so, now she can date him and see his amazing penis (no, really, it is discussed quite a bit later in the book and apparently is fantastic... it is). But, in wishing away the past and changing the future, there are consequences. Turns out, you just cannot "have it all" and so she has to decide which 'reality' to stay in. It is a cute rom-com with a little bitty touch of magic (but even though I tagged it on my 'witches' shelf, not actual witches).

Highly recommend if you like cute stories, friends becoming lovers, the idea of parallel realities, and just fun spicy romance novels.

It is fair to say that this is a teaser mini-novella meant to get you excited about this series. At its center is a young woman who is also a dragon shifter (look, read the title, that's not a huge surprise). As it turns out a demon, wolf-shifter, and a vampire all have the hots for her and are willing to share her in this reverse harem. Good for you girl, good for you. It is a quick-paced story full of a lot of erotic moments and makes for a decent read.

The naive qualities of Treasure/Jade are just painful though.

Super cute (and steamy) romance where a lawyer instantly falls for a girl dressed up like a giant bunny. Not necessarily a 'furry meet cute' but I'm sure you could make that leap if you wanted to. All in all though it was just absolutely cute from moment to end. There are a few moments where it tries too hard -- especially when the main beau gets depressed over a girl he barely knows ending things with him (I mean, cmon). But for the most part it was a great ride.

So, Carlotta is a traitor, and that's what I'm going to say about that. Do I get her motives? Absolutely. Is she still a bit of a traitor? Yeah, absolutely. So what do I do with all of this information? I just don't know. But, this is a short story about the mob and a family adopting a young black girl who later grows up to want to be involved with the family business... even though others desperately want to keep her from it. I would read more from this author, even though mob-stories are generally not my favorite. The writing here was really nice though.

Lo is a journalist who (despite being traumatized from a burgle) desperately wants to get on board a fancy ship and do some reporting... gosh, how did we know something bad was going to happen on a ship full of rich people...

Okay, well, it isn't as bad as Titanic but clearly, when you get on a ship in a book/film, something bad is going to happen. No one wants to read about a journalist who gets on a ship, does some reporting, and then goes home happy without incident.

Anyways. Lo is eventually convinced that she's stumbled upon a murder and that a woman is missing. Instantly, people start telling her she's wrong and that there's no way anything bad has happened. Not a single soul is missing from the ship.

After being told this several times, she starts her own investigation and continues it even when she's warned not to. Surprise surprise, she gets kidnapped and locked away in a cabin. Don't worry, this is a great place to delve further into the story and figure out the who, what, when, where, why -- yeah, there's a big ol' murder plot going on here! And of course, it involves the "woman in cabin 10" who shouldn't really be there at all.

Now, I'm not going to give the ending away.

If you thought that was a spoiler, it isn't. That's me telling you I'm not crazy enough to give away the ending. Look, I know it is an older book and I was late to the party on this one, but it really was a fun read from cover to cover. Is there a twist? Yes, of course, but it was a decent one. All in all, definitely a 4 star book!

Bad ass woman alert! When she's told 'girls can't do that' she just endows an entire school program to make sure that girls (and later boys) can do that! Weave in a 'who dunnit' mystery and this was a really exciting read!

Religious family sends their pregnant daughter away (sigh, of course they do) and she eventually has her daughter and runs away with another girl from the home. She's a strong mother and tries to make her way back to her lover -- that doesn't work. When she returns home, it seems not even her mother is willing to help her (figures). But eventually she finds herself and comes back into the family's congregation.

I mean, there are some cliche moments, but at the same time I just really enjoyed it. Will check out more by this author!
