Such a short, slow, sweet and happy little novella. it's told from the perspective of a middle-school age boy that is most likely somewhere on the autism spectrum with his fixation on a woman who works at the grocery store who he calls Miss Ice Sandwhich.
I love Kawakami's ability to portray teenagers in a way that reminds us what it was like for us to be growing up, and realising that not everything that we find cool is also appreciated by others.
You'll finds lots of emotions in this tiny book,

"Because we're always in pain, we know exactly what it means to hurt somebody else."

She and her cat is a manga adaptation consisting of 4 stories of women living with their cats and how their stories intertwine.
The perspective it told from both of cats and their owners and it shares the personal woes of each. The characters are detailed despite this being a short read. The cat characters in particular were interesting to read from as the described the human world in which they inhabit.
Some of the passages in this book are sentimental and though provoking without being too 'self-help'. And the whole premise is like a peak into ordinary lives and world. It's a light read and perfect to snuggle up with one afternoon.

Orang-Orang Bloomington by Budi Darma
Superb Read.

"Janganlah mengurusi kepentingan orang lain dan janganlah mempunyai keinginan tahu tentang orang lain. Hanya dengan jalan demikian, kita dapat tenang."

TW : eating disorders, child death, illness, alcohol, bullying, racism, and abuse.
This is my first time reading anything by Choi and i ejoying it so far. it's reminded me of my little sister (as the older sibling, why am i literally june :' ) and it reminded me of feeling lost in my twenties. Yolk is a story about sisterhood, a messy, distant kind of relationship that-when you peel back the layers (and there are many)-is ultimately full of love.
Though not as easy read & despite not really liking Jayne's romance story line (I actully could have done without it & just read about her and June), the authenticity & realitability of the sibling relationship outweighed any cons.

Love for Imperfect Things: How to Accept Yourself in a World Striving for Perfection by Haemin Sunim
Hands down to one of the best self-healing books.
A complete package cinsist of how to be good to ourselves, our family, close friends, and partners through empathy and acceptance. I also learned a lot from Haemin Sunim's personal experience on each of the chapters, which very much related to what's happening in my own right now.

'My youth was the most difficult time for me, I constantly had to prove myself because the older generation saw me. Only as young and inexperienced. But there is a light at the end of the tunned. It will reveal itself not suddenly but gradually. Don't be discouraged. Things will get better for sure."
