If I'm swooning, screaming, and kicking my feet at the fluff, it's 5 stars.
For me, it was so funny and so romantic! I really came to care for both main characters and was rooting for them to make it! I was not a fan of the third act conflict and I think it introduces another issue that I hope gets resolved in Juliet's book (co-dependent twins hello?). BUT the main couple, Bea and Jamie, being so different and still having a lot in common was such a fun dynamic. Starting off on the wrong foot, to friends, to lovers. When Jamie said "I don't see you differently. I see you better.", I screamed. Soft boy book boyfriend of dreams. And when the French came out, I screamed again.
I think it's time for me to read Chloe Liese's backlist until Kate's book is out :)))))
This did feel like The Fine Print remixed, but I definitely enjoyed it more! Iris and Declan interactions were funnier. Iris and Cal as best friends also added a lot of humor and fun. Cold, emotion-less man because daddy issues repeats with Declan, but I'm just hoping that Cal's book next doesn't do grumpy sunshine AGAIN. Cal please deliver, k thx.
p.s. the spice in this didn't work for me because like every time they would bring up kids and I'm like nauuur, but that's a personal preference so
This was an okay read for me! A little slower paced in the first half, most characters were unlikeable (but I think that was the point for a whodunnit), and definitely twisty at the end. The main twist at the end was darker than I thought it was going to get and caught me off guard. On page descriptions of some harmful things, so I would check content warnings! The descriptions of Sri Lankan culture and the family drama at a wedding made for an interesting backdrop to the mystery. Audiobook was a plus for me since I would not have known pronunciation for names and some translated phrases.
Oooh this one made me feel uneasy! It was a very quick read, but I had to keep pausing because I was feeling v uncomfy. A philosophical thriller/horror is accurate description for this book. No extreme violence or gore, just lots of psychological questioning of what is real. Since we are in the head of an older character, Penny, you cannot tell if her mind is slipping or if nefarious things are actually happening around her. Interesting musings on how people's value is tied to their productivity, and how we perceive (or ignore) elders in our communities.
Some insta-lust/love holiday fun. It's giving One Direction fanfic which hits some high school nostalgia for me lol.
I think that famous people romance may not be for me, so this was just an okay read personally. I did have fun with the side characters though, so I will probably pick up the next one to see what happens!
