From how much I liked this movie and loved this musical the book definitely fell flat. There was no depth to Elle and she kinda still seemed like an airhead throughout the book. The movie and musical took this mediocre story to something heartwarming and uplifting. For once I can say the book was NOT better.

I think I rated this lower as I was anticipating it to be more like the movie. I found that I wanted to keep reading to see how the book would portray certain scenes from the movie and then found myself being let down. Overall, quick, easy and light read.

omg.
I f*cking hated this so much.

I'm still in shock and completely baffled that this utterly boring book became the funny, warm, delightful movie I have seen hundreds of times, that is one of my favourite comfort films, that I can quote every line...

This book has been on my TBR for years under the assumption that "the book is always better". Not this time. Not even close.

I don't even recognise Elle's character in the book, she is immensely unlikeable.

My appreciation for the screenwriters of the movie has multiplied infinitely. The sheer volume of changes they made is astounding and I bow down to their talent and am eternally grateful.

ps. Reece Witherspoon forever!

Okay so it wasn't literary genius but I love Elle and we stan a female empowerment novel. It was kinda underdeveloped/a lil confusing in places (I honestly could not remember all of the law student's name) but who cares. It was a nice break from reading about death and dystopia.

For the first time ever, I can say the movie was better than the book, but nonetheless, I found the book to be an enjoyable read from start to finish, and I loved the ending. A great book to get you out of a reading slump, and it has important lessons/points!

I would give this book negative stars if I could. It's boring, unbelievable and Elle is completely void of any redeeming qualities. I don't think I've ever actually hated a book until I read this. It's not cute, funny or warm.

Amanda Brown should be punished for writing this.

Stick with the movie version, where Elle has a brain and actually uses it.

I enjoyed Legally Blonde for the characters. Having watched the movie, I don't think that the movie and book are the same so if you are considering not picking up the book because you've all ready seen the movie, don't be deterred. However, the movie is still very similar. I loved hearing about Elle's fashion degree. Her friends and parents were less supportive in the book, the rival love interest has a different name, Elle does have a bit of bite to her, her dog has a different name, and there is much less attention paid to the woman who does her nails, who is also different (and French, I believe).
