I did not like it as much as the first one. I think it was because Logan was being a poop and did not change until later in the story. Also I cringed a little when she would act like a total girl when Logan was around, but maybe that is just the effect he has on all the girls, so I shouldn't be too hard. It was pretty obvious who was really going to be the villain attacking Gwen in this book so the mysterious part kind of failed a little bit in my opinion. ;)Other than that I liked it a lot of it was fun, entertaining and full of adventure.

It was good and I did enjoy it but not as much as I enjoyed Touch of Frost. I found it a bit more clichéd and predictable. Gwen felt like a very stereotypical ya MC and the romantic angst was just too much for me.

Reason number one why I was chomping at the bits to get started on this book right away, was because of how Gwen and Logan's relationship kind of didn't happen in the first book. Lucky for me, I was able to read both books back to back. I'm glad this book didn't fall for the second in the series syndrome wherein authors were unable to sustain the same intensity as the first book. I'd say that this was actually better.
At the end of Touch of Frost, Logan became Gwen's trainer of some sort. I was a bit disappointed that the author didn't really dwell on having some awkward albeit, sexually charged tension between these two. The possibilities were endless. After all, Gwen couldn't touch Logan because she'd be able to know his deep dark secrets and at the same time, Logan made her known that the two of them couldn't, shouldn't happen. I was filled with sick anticipation to find out how they will be able to resist the temptation to touch each other. Sadly, Logan decided to take the boneheaded road, ignoring Gwen for the most part and shoving his tongue down some other girl's throat on another. *sigh* Boys!
Gwen's enemies started making their presence known through several attempts on her life. First, someone tried to run her over; next, someone tried to skewer her with an arrow. And at the Winter Carnival, a Ferni wolf started tracking her. The worst of it all was the deliberate way an avalanche was set off for the sole purpose of burying her alive. It wasn't long before she figured out that her assassin was closer to her than she thinks.
In this book, Gwen's powers have started to manifest and along that, her abilities to fight have started to improve. Under the tutelage and training of the three Spartans, she was able to realize another segment of her power - that she's able to fight using another person's abilities. I thought this was another way the author made Gwen ultimately better. She's still scared but at least she's a bit more confident.
I also loved the other characters that were introduced here - particularly Oliver and Kenzie. There were some predictability as to the real identity of another character but other than that, I liked this book better. I'm crossing my fingers that on the next book, there will be more of Logan Quinn. I think we've barely uncovered an inch of this hot Spartan.
The best thing about Ms. Estep's writing is that she takes you where you needed to go right away. The revelations, the actions...everything was paced in such a way that you're neither bored nor breathless from the sheer G-force of how the book's plot unraveled. I think that's the primo reason why I ate this book up faster than its predecessor. The next book will not be out until next Summer...oh man. Blessed are those who will receive an ARC of Dark Frost!

SPOILER ALERT: If you haven’t read the first book, Touch Of Frost, this review will contain spoilers.
A couple months ago I read Touch Of Frost and enjoyed it. Kiss Of Frost was so much better! I adored this book! Everything about this book was awesome and I can tell that I am going to love this series.
Gwen has changed very little since the end of the first book. She is still in love with Logan, still totally uncoordinated, and still very bad with weapons. On the other hand, her magic is growing and she is learning new ways to use it. Logan hasn’t changed much either. He is still with Savannah and still totally crushing on Gwen. He did change a little throughout the book though and I liked him better after that. Daphne and Carson were still their fun, quirky selves. Oliver is a new character and I liked him a lot (after I got past his BIG flaws.)
The plot was a lot more fast-paced than the first one. Things picked up very early on and I had a hard time putting this book down. In fact, the only time I did put it down was when I had to eat dinner. Nothing else was important enough to pull me away from this book. It was full of action, suspense, and some romance. =)
Overall, Kiss Of Frost exceeded my expectations. If you haven’t picked this one up yet, do it now! You won’t regret it.

This one started out a bit slow for me but once it got going, things really got going. Jennifer Estep tends to repeat certain things so that you know how Gwen had her first really big experience with psychometry and that led to her mother staying late at the precinct and getting t-boned and being killed by a drunk driver. Gwen has guilt over this. The fact that Gwen slips out and visit Grandma Frost for her advice and baked goods and how Gwen feels about the Sphinxes that guard the gates to the Mythos Academy make her feel. A lot of that is repeated, I find myself skipping through a lot of that.
What happened in the last book is repeated, how her friend is a Valkyrie. But I promise it'all worth it to wade, read or skip over that to get to the meat of the story.
The stakes are raised in this one. The Mythos students are at a ski resort for a Winter Carnival and the students from another academy are also there. Gwen is still nursing a broken heart so she's looking for someone to take her mind off of that. But she doesn't know how to ski and hanging out on the bunny slopes isn't exactly where the rest of the Spartans, Romans, Vikings, and Valkyries will be.
But Gwen has a nifty trick for that and soon she's off the bunny slopes and having fun. The Winter Carnival is a bit creepy, but she's hoping to meet up with the new guy she's focusing on. But with Gwen things are never simple and it seems there will always be someone after her as she's Nike's Champion. That doesn't stop even on the mountain. There are some very unexpected surprises, some very nice, in this one and again, I thought I had things figured out, but didn't. I liked Gwen a lot more in this one. She grew with me in this one, I think she will continue to.

Sorry, ignore my little excited fangirling bit there. BUT I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK. SO MUCH. Jennifer Estep, I am offically one of your biggest fans. You are a freaking goddess. I have not read such great urban mythic fantasy for so long. Or ever.
The stakes are higher than ever in Kiss of Frost- now that Gwen knows about the followers of Loki, and how she personally took care of Jasmine Ashton, things are a little shaky...
Espeically when Gwen start getting the feeling she's being watched....
and have a couple near death attempts.
I love the plot in this book- so much more exiciting with the slight elements of a mystery, Kiss of Frost is definitely a level up from Touch of Frost. The intensity, the events... everything combines together perfectly in this book. Everything is so mysterious- we learned SOME things from the end of Touch of Frost, but still a large amount is a mystery, then Kiss of Frost answers SOME, but raises even MORE questions to be answered. It's frustrating and amazing at the same time- it makes you want to read the next books EVEN MORE.
Gwen has definitely gotten much more mature and serious in this book- besides learning the truth, and beginning to start getting into a kick-ass herione role. She's learning to fight back, and developing some pretty awesome skills of her own. - she also learns about- you guessed it- BOYS.
Which brings us to Logan Quinn.
OMG. Logan. I could write a thousand paragraphes about how much I love you with all my heart.
Which is weird. Because you would think Logan is the typical YA boy that you run across- yet I find him so... atrractive and unique from the rest. I can't really explain why. This totally defies all logic. Then again, it's not like love ever follows logic, does it? XD Maybe because I have a thing for the blues eyes black hair combo with a little kick-ass bad boy who's actually super sweet through in? (Huh, maybe because he reminds me of Will from TID XD)
Logan makes you so happy, mad, frustarted and clutching your stomach all in one in this book. You're happy when he's with Gwen, you're mad and about to blow up in his face because he's still dating that Amazon (nope, can't even say her name without a frown on my face.) and you're frustrated because it's the perfect time for him to ditch that Amazon and finally tell Gwen how he feels.
Then again, that destroys the pupose of their romance and makes it less fun. :P
Then finally, you're clutching your stomach because:
SPOILERS AHEAD. PLEASE DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE BOOK. PLEASE.
1. The carnival. When Gwen got injured and how much he care. I was awwwwwwing for over a minute.
2. The part where he saw Gwen and Preston together. I was like : *shaking head* Now do you wish you told Gwen?
3. When he refuses to leave after seeing Gwen and Preston together. XD XD XD XD XD XD
4. When he and Gwen finally, finally,
KISS. (AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HAPPINESS SQUARED.)
5. When he got Gwen that snowflake necklace. *sniffs, eyes fill with tears*
6. When Gwen flashed on that necklace and discovered what he thought at that moment. *full out crying*
SPOILERS END
So yes, Logan Quinn. *sigh*
Daphne and Carson was such a cute couple to read in this book: they don;t mind having Gwen hanging along, and they are just so cute and funny to read about. And Daphne is totally awesome as a best friend.
Umm, so after that large amount on fangirling. I think you should read the book. :)
Like seriously. NOW PEOPLE. Pick up the pace here please.
