We Need to Do Something by Max Booth III

I didn’t hate it. The end definitely got a lot creepier. I loved that our characters became unreliable narrators throughout. But the ending was just a bit too ambiguous for me.
Also the realistic elements in the novel were a bit too unrealistic. (Four people really couldn’t knock the door down? Or at least throw something hard enough to crate a hole?) and side note, but 90% of the stuff the little boy said added nothing to the story. Too much “potty humor”.

“One of the strange things about adulthood is that you are your current self, but you are also all the selves you used to be, the ones you grew out of but can't ever quite get rid of.”

I immensely enjoyed this book. The audiobook is narrated by John Green, which gave it a more personal flare. I, someone who doesn’t like nonfiction or audiobooks, highly recommend listening to this on audio. I loved learning more about John Green and learning a lot about life too. His insight on things are sometimes pretty similar to my own and other times vastly different. I simultaneously found this insightful and relatable.

I give The Anthropocene Reviewed, five stars.

I ended up really liking this! At times the rivalry between Natalie and Reid was super childish, and Natalie’s actions really annoyed me. But in the end I kind of understand why. Maybe not the best way to deal with things, but I guess high schoolers aren’t always rational. This book also made me really nostalgic for band.

Scientology is a cult and it absolutely horrifies me that so many people get sucked in. I understand the appeal. On the surface it sounds like a place with great ideals, that could really help you when you’re down. But the things they want you to do? Ridiculous.
The audiobook is great, as it’s narrated by Leah Remini herself. Definitely recommend going that route.

Mainly Christmas porn. But that’s what I was expecting. Also learned a new use for Christmas lights! And the ending was super cute. Definitely enjoyed!

This book 🥺 I’m so happy this was my first read of 2022. My heart. The House In the Cerulean Sea was so wholesome. I loved the message behind the novel. I cried happy tears multiple times. Gah I just loved this so much. I loved every single character.

This novella had so much potential. The premise was super interesting. But there was so much unimportant information presented to us. And it felt like the author was trying way too hard to be lyrical and sound intelligent. There was way too many large words for the sentences to sound natural. And don’t even get me started on the characters. I pretty much hated every single one. The way they all interacted was infuriating.

I’ve seen some pretty bad reviews of this book, so I went into it with pretty low expectations. But I ended up enjoying it. My biggest qualms with the book is that 90% of it doesn’t seem much like a thriller. The whole book eludes to something bad that’s about to happen. Then the last like 30 pages or less of the book is all we get of our main conflict. There should have been a lot more action with how big the build up to it was.
Side note: the audiobook is really good. We get 3 voice actors for each of our different POVs.

What the fuckkkkk, nooooo!

This was actually so good though. It felt like a horror movie. In the best way possible. Although I actually cared about our characters. They had enough depth that I was rooting for relationships and holding my breath for their safety. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time.
Highly recommend if you’re looking for a thrilling horror book, that’s a bit gory.
