Okay, so I would like to say that Michel Desjardins, sacrifice will never be forgotten, he’s villain to hero arc was as good as it good get for the Kane Chronicles. I don’t particularly love him, but I respect him. Also, Vlad was a convincing villain and at the end I had real sympathy for the guy, I mean in the end he was only a pawn. And oh my Bes, you mean so much for these kids and I love you, you deserve the world and the love that comes with it. Sadie and Carter obviously you don’t disappoint, and I’m happy that resurrected Ra, you did your best and I love that you guys just don’t quit. Incredible siblings and all.

Okay, I am in love with Sadie and Carter Kane. I love their bravery, ingenuity and most importantly their representation of siblings relationships. To be honest I fell in love with him before I fell in love with Percy Jackson. I loved Bast in this and Anubis and honestly this is just family bonds on a whole different level and I love their mom, and I can tell that she’s absolutely stunning. There’s not much else to say. Rick is the author of my childhood, he’s one of the reasons I fell in love with reading and he’s one of the reasons why my imagination is out control. Thank you Rick and God Bless you from all the kids you inspired over the years.

Okay, so what can I say but thriller, suspense, politics and a very very big dose of military tech that I can’t believe is actually real. Rachel Sexton, is fucking brilliant and innovative, Oh and Micheal Tolland. I love him and Curly too, (in his cock-blocking ignorance) and the President Henry, he genuinely just wanted the best for the country and was just a good guy. Oh and FUCK SENATOR SEDGEWICK SEXTON.

Okay, so I want to say, I was in a little reading slump after finishing off from Cassian and Nesta, and it took me a while to get into this book, but when I did, I realized I was reading a masterpiece. I have never ever in my whole 21years of life, felt as connected to a love story as I did with Kikiola Banjo and Malakai Korede. It was just so Nigerian, so refreshing, so enjoyable an incredibly familiar, the culture, the food, the attitudes and the sayings, Everything reminded me of me and my friends, and it just really goes to show that no matter where we (Nigerians) are in the world, Our culture runs hot. For Kikola, Malakai, Aminah Bakare, Chioma, Ashanti Jackson, Ty Bapiste, Simi and Adwoa, who have all become very precious to me and special shout-out to Dr Miller. Fucking Fantastical woman.

Oh my goodness what can I say about this story, if not that it’s incredibly heartbreaking, heart wrenching and just incredible. But I have to start with Patroclus and Achilles’s ferocious love. I mean gods, kings and kin had tried to separate them, shame them for their love but it Just. Would. Not. Work. Achilles wouldn’t cower, even when Patroclus wanted to, for the sake of Achilles’s reputation, Achilles wouldn’t allow it, because he just couldn’t imagine a life where holding Patroclus through the night wasn’t possible, and it shows, in the way he went absolutely feral after his death, traditions and gods be damned, the love of his life was dead and blood had to be spilled, and I absolutely loved that he didn’t hide it or shy away from how much he loved his Patroclus. You couldn’t pay him to lie about how he felt, that man was the love of his life. Even Thetis -with all her might couldn’t stop their love. In the end, she conceded and let them be together in the afterlife, but she was only put in this position out of Zeus’s madness and fear of prophecy. How can someone godlike be such a coward. Fuck him.

First of all, I want to say that the only reason, it took me this look to finish this book, is simply because I was in a reading slump,  not because the book want good. It was good. I love the way the dealt with the complexities between mother and daughter, and also generational trauma. It was a good book and should be read by anyone who has complex or non-complex relationships with their mothers.

I like this book, I love how, we as an Audience and as readers got to see the illusion of Blessing’s family life unfold before us, the strength of the women in this book, the tragedy that was Ezikiel’s short 15yrs and the eccentricity and stubbornness of Alhaji, I love it all. But most of all, I love the story Blessing told us. It’s a beautiful and sad one, and all too real in the present day, as we all still suffer under the hands of these oil companies and our government.

Where do I actually start, with a love story as dangerous as this one. Shane Hall and Genevieve Mercier (Eva Mercy) are the literal definition of soulmates. Even as a reader, their push-and-pull tension was fucking biblical. Tia Williams, thank you for writing black romance like no-goddamn-other. Every other romance novel I am yet to read will unfortunately be compared to this, too bad for them. Goddamn, this novel was delicious.

I really do think Gifty and I may as well be the same person, because I relate so much to her story and the sadness of it. She was an adult when she shouldn’t have been, and as a result, suppressed a lot herself, her story is sad, but I’m happy for her.

Okay, for final offer, I can say, what a thrilling conclusion to a series that really made me think. I love how each book tackled a similarities each brother thought they shared with their father. For Callahan, I love that the author tackled his alcoholism whilst comparing he’s similarities to his father. I love that both men had to make a choice to get better (sober) but both men had  chose. different reasons to get better,  because those reasons spoke to their character. For Cal, he was finally seeing himself as worthy for love, for family and to be happy and for their father, Seth, he simply want the inheritance, and being sober was the easiest route to it, he chose easy because that’s who Seth Kane is, a man to afraid to seek redemption and forgiveness from the sons he failed, so rather he chose to be sober, which in itself isn’t easy, but m without alcohol clouding his judgment, he still abused his sons, he still chose a familiar pattern to fall back into because Godforbid he’d actually try asking for forgiveness. In the end, I live the contrast, for the books not just this one, and I especially love that Lauren didn’t treat abuse with a happy-go-Lucky ending, she gave the boys an ending they deserved and gave Seth something fitting of this character and choices, which absolutely Jackshit
