Burned by Sara Shepard

A pretty average conclusion to the arcs, especially after the last two conclusions.

The storyline is dragging on a lot and was fairly predictable this time around.

This novel was hard to read and was, for the most part, fairly boring.

Was very average after the last two books so I hope the next ones ramp up a bit.

The book was pretty good, full of twists and turns but in the end I saw the ending coming from a mile away.

It was still a good read but is getting so predictable, with every person they suspect to be A ending up not being A.

The only thing really keeping me going is wanting to know who A is. So I guess the books and the TV show have a big thing in common after all.

As usual, the girls frustrated me a lot getting involved in things they shouldn't (but that's basically the whole series, right?)

The plot has its good parts and has its bad and unbelievable parts.

Although this book was a fairly good read, I'm glad I'm almost at the end of this series. In saying that, I'm really keen to see how it winds up.

I am so glad to finally have gotten to the end of this series. It dragged on for so long!

This was a somewhat lacklustre ending to the series. I called the plot twist from a mile away. The beginning dragged on, all for the drama and plot to be wrapped up in a chapter.

Definitely could've been so much better and so much more dramatic.

An average ending to the saga but, overall, not a bad book.

At first, I was unsure about this book. It was fairly cliche and somewhat predictable.

However, as the story progressed, it started to enchant me. It changed. It was definitely not what I expected but it was everything I wanted to be.

It was not a story of love but self discovery which made it so much more believable.

An excellent story.

This book was a bit of an odd read. It wasn't boring but the climax felt like something was missing and it ended fairly abruptly.

Overall, the story was pretty interesting and the different between the two narrators was good. Definitely wasn't a bad read, just left me with an odd sense that things hadn't really been resolved.

Some of the character development was great, I just wish it could've been explored a little further.

I would recommend if you want to fill in the time between books, which is why I read this novel, but if you're looking for a thought-provoking, thrilling read then this probably isn't the book for you.
Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare

This book took me a while to start, not because of any reason apart from my own tiredness from academic reading putting me off reading for fun; however, when I started reading I couldn't stop.

It was the usual roller coaster ride of ups and downs, of tears and laughter. There was a wide dynamic of characters - those you loved, those you hated and those that had absolutely fantastic character development.

Nothing was obvious, I was surprised a lot of the way through.

One comment would be the length; however, I did not find myself bored at all.

The ending tore my heart out in true Cassandra Clare fashion and I cannot wait for the next one.

A good book, a fairly easy read with an intriguing, feel-good storyline.

I had to physically stop myself from reading this book all in one go because I was so interested in seeing how the story developed.

The characters were dynamic and three-dimensional, both nice and annoying at times, as people are.

Not completely predictable, but even tho I did eventually guess who Blue was, it was still a cute ending either way.

Would definitely recommend reading this book

This was a pretty good read. The start was a bit slow and I felt like it was going to be a slog to get through the book, but as soon as the mystery started to evolve I needed to know what happened next.

The change in narrators provided a good way to slowly develop the story, giving away clues at vital moments.

At some point towards the end of the novel, I knew who did it but there was always that question in the back of my mind if someone else was involved.

The characters were all annoying and the narrator unreliable, but it added to the story. Unlikeable characters does not mean they are bad characters and does not mean they do not play the role they must for the story to be good and intriguing.

This book is advertised as a thriller but really isn't that thrilling - is more of a drama novel.

I honestly had high expectations from the high ratings and good reviews of this book but was slightly disappointed. The book was intriguing and interesting at times but a struggle at others - the pace was all over the place which took away from some of the storyline.

Daniel was the only bearable character and, although unlikeable characters are sometimes pivotal for the story, Cherry and Laura bordered on petty and overly annoying, though Laura was at least slightly bearable and you were able to sympathise with her and understand her actions.

The feud between mother and girlfriend was reasonable and believable at first but became very twisted and unrealistic towards the end but I guess that's what creates the conflict.

Overall, I had mixed feelings about this book, with the premise and start of the book being good but it slowly degraded over time and the ending seemed quite sudden and slightly left of field.

If you're looking for an intense, on-edge thriller then this probably isn't your book but is, overall, a good read and I wouldn't say no to reading another book by this author.
