Really good and funny!
Monster, She Wrote: The Women Who Pioneered Horror and Speculative Fiction by Lisa Kröger, Melanie R. Anderson

3.5 stars! This is a pretty good read! It is in list format, and I expected it to be a bit more of a flowing narrative, so just be prepared for that if you're picking it up. Covers great ground in discussing women who shaped this genre. A very good pickup for anyone interested in horror and looking for recs - they do a good job giving you a taste of what to expect from each author they recommend without giving the plots away. It's not exactly a heartstopping book you need to pick up over and over again, but a good and informative intro!

So good!!
The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Brontë

Man, this book was so good and the last chapter basically ruined it for me. I wish Gilbert wasn't so damn pathetic and pushy if that's who Helen was going to end up with. :/ Would've preferred just to see her single and happy but I guess for the time period, just the events of this book were unusually empowering. Still. Ugh.
New and Selected Poems, Volume One by Mary Oliver

Oh, man. I had a journey with this book. I read it in tiny sections over the course of a year. I love it so much. Mary Oliver's poetry is the most soul-soothing thing, I swear. I almost cried upon finishing it, and I'm very happy there is a volume two. Even the arrangement of the poems is really spectacular. This is probably my favorite book of poetry that I've ever read - maybe tied with Songs From Under the River. It's also extremely accessible for someone just getting into poetry. Loved everything about it.

A nice read! I like the concept a lot and there were some standouts in this collection. Some better than others, of course, but over all nice way to reflect on love!
