Oh this was absolutely delightful! Becky Chambers is so good at writing stories with such a perfect mix of queer characters and relationships and situations that are heartwarming and wholesome while also having plots that are tense and exciting and feel high stakes.
I adored the crew of the Wayfarer almost upon meeting them, and cried a fair bit at the end of this, but my god what a luxury to have three more books of adventures with them! This is only the beginning!

This certainly was a challenging read, I wasn't really sure what to expect of it but it definitely asked a lot more of me than I thought, although also a lot less as I feel as though me not fully understanding everything on the first read is part of the point. It's complex, and the complexities and nuances are something which will unravel and reveal in time and upon rereads.
Anyways, I found this to be beautiful and bizarre and surprisingly moving - I found myself crying whenEstraven died, and when he wasn't able to see the ship land and was never declared not a traitor. It all felt rather gnawing and sad.

Shades of Magic: The Steel Prince, Vol. 3: The Rebel Army by V.E. Schwab

These comics were a pretty good time, I'll be honest I think the main thing is that I don't really like the art style of them, which is a pretty major factor in comics I'd say. Still, this was very cool and I love the world and it's neat getting more lore and backstory to the world.
Shades of Magic: The Steel Prince Vol. 2: Night of Knives by V.E. Schwab

Very fun concept and execution. Liked the interview at the end where V E Schwab talked about having to figure out what the Night of Knives actually was since they made an offhand comment about it in one of the novels. Neat as.

I really enjoyed my time with this trilogy, the characters are fun and the dynamics and relationships etc are very well done. Queer and horny and fantastical - and by an Australian author. Love to see it.
It was very gratifying seeing all the couples being menaces and the epilogue was cute as hell AND I cried a bit during this which I absolutely was not expecting. Some very thoughtful words and things on grief and working and I love these characters a lot.

Oh this was absolutely delightful! I am so glad I decided that I wanted to keep going with this series despite not loving the first book the first time I read it. Adored everyone so goddamn much! And such a fun, fast-paced whimsical (and horny) time!
I don't know if this really is a spoiler, but I'll mark it as one anyway I LOVED getting to see Hawthorn and Ross interact knowing they are the focus of the final book. I CANNOT wait to read that like, tomorrow.

I decided I wanted to read the book for June's buzzwordathon prompt sooner rather than later, and landed on this as my choice and goddamn am I glad I finally picked this bad boy up.
Mythology and fairytales and their importance to your life and sense of self, two very interesting character perspectives and timelines, beautiful prose. Ah I really enjoyed this! Also I fucking CALLED IT which hasn't happened in a while and felt very satisfying for both me and the characters.

Ah I was so thrilled to draw this from the TBR jar, this is one I knew I was going to need a push to pick up because of how much I loved There Is A Light by Ban. I went into this knowing queer, horror, scottish, folklore? and was met with all of those things and more! An absolutely delightful (and ridiculously fast) read.
Like if any of the characters in Summer Sons were more functional, and instead of iced coffee they drank tea. Ok it wasn't really like Summer Sons at all but queer found family with paranormal hauntings and trying to solve a mystery involving a missing best friend/lover - that's pretty Summer Sons. Anyways, this was a delight and I will be keeping an eye out for anything Ban writes because fuck I really like what they have written (and I have read) so far!

Frankly I am unsure what to make of this. I picked this up because I drew it from my TBR jar and knew I needed to start reading something as soon as possible after finishing The Hero of Ages or I would quite possibly not read for a few weeks, which was not what I wanted. Totally irrelevant honestly - but still that's some context. I don't super know why I bought this, I've heard pretty much only middling to negative things but gothic and inspired by Crimson Peak intrigued me.
I will be honest, I was very unsure during the first 100 pages. I made the mistake of seeing the average rating and scanning some reviews and was ready for the worst but the way things amped up for the rest of it was like, intriguing. Engaging enough that I sat in one spot and read all 350 pages in under three hours. It reminded me a lot of The Haunting of Hill House and We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson and frankly I am surprised at how it all turned out. I will not pretend I understand the ending, I am warm and tired by a fire and feel quite dazed, but I think I had a good time. Wahoo.

How the fuck did Sanderson manage all of that?
The man not only makes reading 400 pages in like, a few hours completely manageable but emotionally destroys me in the process holy fucking shit. I cannot express my feelings about this fucking book, I cannot express my feelings about the ending, I cannot express how much I loved this world and characters oh my GOD. I was hysterically sobbing for the last like 10 pages good fucking grief.
I am now even more excited and scared of The Stormlight Archive holy shit. I don't know what to do with myself, it will truly be a struggle to try and read other things after this absolutely perfect trilogy good lord.
